Pedagogy
Planning
In this activity, my students are going to use Anchor.fm to create a Podcast from the view
of the people during the American Revolution.

Pedago Activity
gy 1. Students will spend a week learning about the importance
of Virginia during the American Revolution through various
readings, videos and lecture. Students will learn about the
specific roles of all of the various people during this time to
include: American Indians, whites, enslaved African
Americans, and free African Americans in the
Revolutionary War era, including George Washington,
Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, the Marquis de Lafayette,
and James Lafayette
2. Students will get in to groups of two, and each group will
be assigned a specific person from the time (ex. slave,
Thomas Jefferson, American Indian).
3. Students will work with their partner to formulate 5-6
interview questions as if they were going back in time to
speak to the person whom they were assigned. Questions
must include information on the Victory at Yorktown, the
relocation of the capital, why the war started and their
personal life at that time. Students will have 1 day to
research and develop well thought questions and fact-
based responses.
4. Using the website, kopywritingkourse.com, students will
generate a name for their podcast that is relatable to the
subject (ex. True Virginia Stories)
5. Using anchor.fm, on either the classroom computer or on
their phones, students will record the interviews as if they
were hosting a modern day podcast. One student will be
the podcast host/ interviewer, and the other student will
play the role of the assigned person to answer the
questions. Each podcast must be a minimum of 5 minutes
long.
6. Students will spend the remainder of the week recording,
editing and publishing their podcasts with a podcast name
and photo. Links to each published podcast will be emailed
to the teacher, where she will grade each interview
question on information accuracy, point of view, and
relevance.
