in Classroom
• - Create a compassionate, accepting environment 
- Be present with students’ ideas 
- Encourage autonomy
- Re-word assignments to promote creative thinking
- Give students direct feedback on their creativity 
- Make it clear to students that creativity requires effort
- Help them understand what creativity is and is not 
- Experiment with activities where students can practice
creative thinking
Activities
Name Annagrammer
• Use the letters in your name and make a sentence or a
phrase
• Enable learners to widen and use the vocabulary learnt
creatively
• Encourages out-of-the-box thinking and group work
• E.g. S-H-A-R-A-N
• Sie hat Alfreds Rad auch nachgeschickt.
“ She had also sent Alfred’s bicycle.”
Shapes and Perceptions
• Students are given some common shapes like circle, triangle,
square, a straight or squiggly line
• Asked to relate the shapes to things (general / certain theme
e.g. bodyparts)
• E.g. Triangle = Nose
Squiggly line = hair

 Good to see things beyond what it is, creative, fun!


Unrelated Relations
• 2 groups
• Group 1
• Get 2 different object, and are asked to describe the objects
separately
• Group 2
• Try to come up with a connection / relationship for the 2 objects
•  good for stimulating mind / innovativeness

Opposites Attract
• Prepare a list of words (general / certain theme)
• In pairs / groups
• Come up with at least 3 words as opposite of the
word.
• Encourage students to look beyond the words for the
answers
• E.g. Theme : Body

Connecting the Dots
• In groups of 4/5, pass a pencil and paper around
• First person draws something and passes it on, the
following members add something to the drawing.
• Each person has 5 seconds to draw
• Then the group must describe the drawings in 5 words
or less.
• Encourages relating things out of the ordinary / norm
• Room for brainstorming, immediate response
