WHAT IS THE 4TH COMMANDMENT?

Exodus 20
8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a

sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you,
nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals,
nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the LORD made the
heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the
seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
 Even though Christians are not under the
Jewish Law to observe the Sabbath -
It is still very interesting to note
that even this aspect of Jewish worship
was also corrupted by the Powers of Rome.

Is there anything that Rome hasn't

corrupted? It seems like it.

If you look at a calendar you will immediately

notice that the 7th (seventh) day of the week
is Saturday and NOT Sunday.

But Romans were pagan "sun" worshippers.

So it should not surprise you
that they decided to make "sun" day
their holy day for sabbath worship.

Even big holidays, like "EASTER" is forced onto Sunday

for honoring the goddess Ishtar
and her cute rabbits and fertility eggs.
The move from Saturday to Sunday
for Holy day worship - is just another aspect of
Apostasy - that was conjured up by the
Fallen-away Church in the hands of
Roman corruption under the leadership of Constantine.

 The 7th Day
The Seventh day was designated by Jehovah God - as his day of rest.
“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made;
and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had
rested from all his work which God created and made.” (Gen. 2:2-3).

The debate rages over whether the Sabbath day,

or day of rest, falls on Saturday or Sunday.
Most Christians observe it on Sunday.
Some say it is on Saturday.
The Jewish Sabbath is observed on Saturday, as well.
Honoring the day of rest is one of the Ten Commandments.
Christ himself had to answer to authorities
for gleaning wheat from a field on the Sabbath.
And the argument wages on as it has for nearly two thousand years:
when exactly is the Sabbath day?

Interesting to Note
Even though Christians are no longer under the
Jewish Law as set out by decree - the principals still remain.
It is very interesting to note that the law on the Sabbath was set out
as part of the original Ten Commandments given to Moses.

The "sabbath law" was classified along with major sins,

like stealing, murder, and adultery.

One writer put it this way -

"The command to observe the Sabbath
is essentially as moral and immutable
as the commands to abstain from stealing,
killing or adultery."

 This article is not addressing the importance
of observing the ten commandments -
nor is it addressing any importance
to observing the Sabbath.

But rather to show the reader,

just how thoroughly corrupt the Christian Faith
had become under the authority and rulership
of Rome and the extent of the "Great Apostasy".

Dies Solis (Sunday)

"Dies solis" means the day of the sun,
from which we get the word "Sunday".

Sun worship among pagans was marked

by the use of the halo, or nimbus,
which originated with the pagan Greeks
and Romans to represent their sun god, Helios.

Later artists adopted it for use in Christian images.

The halo is actually just the sun behind the person's head,
as shown in the illustration below.

It's easy to recognize once one realizes what it is,

although it's also often stylized to make it less obvious.

Originally, the use of the halo or nimbus

was a very devious way of mixing idolatrous
sun worship with Christianity
by converts who were not all that converted,
the pagan halo became a very misleading tradition
in Christian art.

 Pagan Origin
of Sunday Worship
"This word "Sunday" is of heathen origin.
It indicates a day dedicated particularly
to the worshipful recognition of the "sun"deity.

Obviously the exact name indicates

the day devoted to the worship of the sun.
In pagan use the name "Sunday" gives special
emphasis on the sun-god's worship.
When in the Roman Empire the sun gained prominence
as the symbol of highest divinity this
constituted a preparation for the political
and ecclesiastical identification of the
Lord’s Day for Sun-day… With the expansion
of Christianity in Europe the day for special
Christian worship falling on that of sun worship
the name was simply taken over. It has no direct
reference to the Hebrew Sabbath. And, of course,
there is no connection between the origin of
the name and Christian practice."

 SOME CLERGY ADMIT IT
Toronto, Oct. 27 (1949).—Rev. Philip Carrington,
Anglican Archbishop of Quebec, sent local clergymen
into a huddle today by saying outright that
there was nothing to support Sunday being kept holy.

Carrington defiantly told a church meeting

in this city of straight-laced Protestantism
that tradition, NOT the Bible,
had made Sunday the day of worship.

He quoted the biblical commandment which said

the seventh day should be one of rest, and then
stated: "That is Saturday."

"Nowhere in the Bible is it laid down that

worship should be done on Sunday,"
the Archbishop told a hushed, still audience.
