TEST I- CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS (20 points)


Direction: Answer the following questions. You may put your answers in a one (1) whole sheet of
paper/pdf/word and send it to my yahoo mail account aishah.sangcopan@yahoo.com. Please, don’t try to
send it in my messenger or google classroom because there’s a tendency that I couldn’t see it.

1. A company in a country that is just entering the information age intends to introduce e-mail for
office staff at its three buildings located throughout the city. Describe two benefits and two
potential problems that employees will likely experience with this medium.
2. Under what conditions, if any, do you think it is appropriate to use e-mail to notify an employee
that he or she has been laid off or fired? Why is e-mail usually considered an inappropriate
channel to convey this information?
3. In your opinion, has the introduction of e-mail and other information technologies increased or
decreased the amount of information flowing through the corporate grapevine? Explain your
answer.

TEST II- ANALYZING BLOGS AND TWEETS (30 points)

Purpose: This exercise is designed to help you understand the dynamics of corporate blogs and
microblogs as a way to communicate around organizations.
Direction: Each of you will identify an executive who communicates using a corporate blog or microblog
(ex. Twitter/Facebook) aimed at customers, employees, or the wider community. Analyze content from
the selected blog or microblog and answer the following questions (preferably with brief samples where
applicable):
1. Who is the main intended audience of the selected blog or microblog?
2. What are the main topics in recent postings/tweets about this organization?
3. To what extent do you think this blog/microblog attracts the interest of its intended audience?
Explain.
Note: All works must be documented.
TEST III- SELF-ASSESSMENT (15 points)
Purpose: This self-assessment is designed to help you estimate your strengths and weaknesses on
various dimensions of active listening.
Direction: This exercise is completed alone so students assess themselves honestly without concerns of
social comparison. Answer each item as truthfully as possible so that you get an accurate estimate of
where your active listening skills need improvement. Put check inside the box if your answer is
