Production Technology
well completion

The major considerations

1. Completion fluids
2. Fluid flow from formation
to wellbore
3. Capability, safety, and
future work over
Production Technology
well stimulation
Stimulation techniques are intended to:
o Improve the degree of inter-connection between the pore space
o Remove or bypass restriction to flow
o Provide a large conductive hydraulic channel which will allow
the wellbore to communicate with a larger area of the reservoir.
Production Technology
Work over Techniques

o Identification of problems
and their source
o Plan the required
corrective action
(Identifying the equipment,
manpower, safety, and
other capabilities required).
o The assessment of the
probability of technical and
economic success.
Production Technology
artificial lift
 Reducing flowing pressure
gradients in the tubing

 Providing additional power using a

pump

Each artificial lift system has a

preferred operating and economic
envelope influenced by factors such as
fluid gravity, G.O.R., production rate as
well as development factors such as well
type, location and availability of power.
Production Technology
surface processing
o To effectively separate oil, gas,
water and other produced
materials such as sand.
o To monitor and adjust the
chemical properties prior to
separation/transport
o To dispose of the oil and gas via
pipeline or to storage
o To prepare for re-inject
necessary fluids such as gas and
water.
