Technology STANDARD 7 - Research, Problem Solving, and Product Development.

The competent teacher will use computers and other technologies in research, problem
solving, and product development. The competent teacher will appropriately use a variety
of media, presentation, and authoring packages; plan and participate in team and
collaborative projects that require critical analysis and evaluation; and present products
developed.
7A. Understands how to use computers and other technologies in research, problem
solving, and product development.
7B. Identifies basic principles of instructional design associated with the development of
multimedia and hypermedia learning materials.
7C. Develops simple hypermedia and multimedia products that apply basic instructional
design principles.
7D. Selects appropriate tools for communicating concepts, conducting research, and
solving problems for an intended audience and purpose.
7H. Designs and publishes simple on-line documents that present information and include
links to critical resources.
7I. Develops instructional units that involve compiling, organizing, analyzing, and
synthesizing of information, and uses technology to support these processes.

1. Fully state the standard in bold text. Then write a paragraph explaining your knowledge and
understanding of the standard—put the standard into your own words.

This standard is about how I, as a teacher, will use technologies research, problem solve, and

develop classroom products. I will use a variety of media, presentation programs, and will

collaborate on projects that require critical analysis as well as evaluation. I will understand many

different multimedia technologies to enhance my teaching strategies and to help the students

better relate to the material being presented. I will develop units by compiling and organizing

information using technology to support it.

2. Explain how the artifact you chose demonstrates your understanding and application of the
standard.

The artifact that I chose to demonstrate my understanding and application of the standard is a

website that I formulated with two other future teachers about No Child Left Inside Act. With
Ptasienski 2

the Vuvox website, we compiled, organized, analyzed and presented using an online presentation

creator. This artifact shows that I am able to use a variety of presentation resources to present

course information to my students. The finished product demonstrates that I understand how to

use the website, and that I can include basic design principles in my presentations. Not only that,

but this presentation shows that I can conduct research and communicate what I have learned to

an intended audience as well.

3. A If the artifact has been used in your practice, reflect on how your teaching will change in
the future to further meet the standard.
B If the artifact has not been used in your practice, i.e., a class assignment, reflect upon how
your teaching will be impacted by the assignment.

This artifact was used to present the research conducted about No Child Left Behind with the rest

of my fellow classmates. Through using technologies such as VuVox, I believe that my students

will become more interested in the topics discussed in class. I will also be able to cater more to

the needs of the students in my classroom if they have low attention spans, or have trouble

focusing on subject matter presented in a typical manner. In the future, I will be able to create

presentations aimed more at children that may have more interactive slides where the students

can participate in the lecture.

4. Conclude with a paragraph discussing how you are more prepared to Teach and Learn in a
Diverse Society as a result of satisfactorily meeting the standard.

As a result of using VuVox, I feel more prepared by having technology that will support my

plight in reaching each and every student in my diverse classroom. By having a media source to

present classroom information with, I will be able to teach and learn a diverse group of students

from many different backgrounds and learning styles. With websites such as VuVox, I can

create websites that cater to visual learners, kinesthetic learners, as well as auditory learners.

This website provides a slew of opportunities and is a resource that I will continue to use in the

future.
