2. Wie der Titel schon sagt, heute dreht sich der Blog um ein ziemlich beliebtes Essen in
Deutschland, das eigentlich gar nicht deutsch ist, aber vor allem in Berlin fast schon ein
Nationalgericht ist. Es geht um den Döner Kebap - kurz Döner genannt.

3. Der Döner ist ein sehr bekanntes Gericht aus der türkischen Küche, das in Deutschland
viele Fans gefunden hat. Einen Döner isst man meistens, wenn es schnell gehen soll.
Dann kann man in einem Imbiss oder einer "Döner-Bude" schnell mal eben einen Döner
verdrücken. Gerade wenn man abends noch spät unterwegs ist, ist so ein Döner immer
gut. Noch dazu kostet er nur wenige Euro und strapaziert den Geldbeutel nicht allzu sehr.

4. Doch was ist dieser Döner eigentlich? Beim Döner werden Fleischscheiben auf einen
senkrechten Spieß geschichtet und dann gegrillt. Das Fleisch wird später dann in kleinen
Stücken vom Spieß geschnitten. In Deutschland serviert man das Fleisch dann in einem
Fladenbrot mit Rotkohl, Zwiebeln, Gurken, Tomaten und einer Soße. In der Türkei
hingegen gibt es Dönerfleisch meist als Hauptgericht mit Reis und Salat als Beilage.
Auch Kräutersoßen oder Knoblauchsoßen, die bei den Deutschen sehr beliebt sind,
werden in der Türkei eigentlich nicht verwendet. Neben diesem "normalen" Döner gibt
es auch noch einige Varianten. Beim Dürüm Döner werden die Zutaten beispielsweise in
ein Fladenbrot eingerollt.

5. Jetzt fragt ihr euch sicher, wie der Döner nun nach Deutschland gekommen ist und
warum er neben der Currywurst zu den beliebtesten Gerichten in Berlin zählt. Tja, in
Berlin leben mittlerweile so viele Türken, dass die Stadt im Scherz manchmal Klein-
Ankara genannt wird. Und als die Türken nach Deutschland einwanderten, brachten sie
natürlich auch ihr leckeres Essen mit. Der Döner beweist, dass es neben dem
amerikanischen Fast Food auch noch andere Möglichkeiten für einen schnellen Snack
für Zwischendurch gibt!

2. As the title has already mentioned, today the blog will be turning to a well-loved food in
Germany. It isn't actually German, but has nearly become a national dish, particularly in
Berlin. This is the Doner Kebab, or Doner for short.

3. The doner is a well-known dish from the Turkish kitchen, which has found many fans in
Germany. You usually eat a doner when you need something quick. Then you can just
quickly scarf down a doner in a fast-food shop or a "doner booth". It's always good when
you're out late in the evening. Plus, it's cheap so it doesn't put too much of a strain on
your wallet.

4. But what really is a doner, anyway? For a doner, slices of meat are stacked on a vertical
skewer and then grilled. The meat will then later be cut off in small pieces. In Germany, it
is then served in a pita with red cabbage, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, and sauce. In
Turkey, on the other hand, doner meat is mostly a main course with rice and salad on
the side. In fact, herb sauce and garlic sauce, both well-loved by the Germans, aren't
actually used in Turkey. Besides the "normal" doner there are also several variants. For
example, in a dürüm doner, the ingredients are rolled up in a flatbread.

5. And now you're certainly wondering how the doner found its way to Germany, and why,
next to the Currywurst, it can be counted as one of the most popular dishes in Berlin.
Well, there are so many Turks living in Berlin by now, that the city is sometimes jokingly
called "Little Ankara". And when the Turks immigrated to Germany, they naturally
brought along their delicious food. The doner proves that there are other possibilities for a
fast snack besides American-style fast food!
