RESOLUTION OF PUBLIC CENSURE

OF BOARD MEMBER MIKE KAHOE

The Board of Education of the Revere Local School District, Summit County, Ohio
(“Board”) met in ___________ session on the _____ day of July 2020, with the following
members present:

The Treasurer advised the Board that the notice requirements of R.C. §121.22 and
the implementing rules adopted by the Board pursuant thereto were complied with for the
meeting.

M___. ___________________moved the adoption of the following Resolution:

WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the Revere Local School District recognizes
that civility, common courtesy, respect and compliance with the law are cornerstones of
human interaction, the operation of any organization and the conduct of any member of a
Board of Education;

WHEREAS, Board Policy 1.07 and the Ohio School Boards Association, Code of
Ethics, both state, in relevant part:
“The Board of Education believes quality public education and good Board
service should be conducted in an ethical manner with traditional principles
such as honesty, trust, fairness, and integrity. Each Board member should
conform his/her conduct to Ohio law, the code of ethics recommended by the
Ohio School Boards Association, and the code of conduct set forth below as
adopted from the National School Boards Association publication,
Becoming a Better Board Member.
While serving as a member of the Board of Education, each member is
expected to agree to abide by the following code of ethics promulgated by
the Ohio School Boards Association.

B. obey the laws of Ohio and the United States;”

WHEREAS, Board Policy 1.06, states, in part:

“Personal statements or commitments made other than in Board meetings
frequently produce misunderstanding and embarrassment for individual

 members, the Board, and school officials. Since such actions tend to reduce
the effectiveness of the schools, they should be avoided.”

WHEREAS, the majority of the members of the Board of Education have been
made aware that Board Member Mike Kahoe did engage in conduct on or about May 31,
2020, with other Revere students that resulted in the individuals being cited for underage
consumption of alcohol in Vermilion, Ohio and that Mr. Kahoe has denied underage
consumption to this Board but that he was present when other minors were consuming
alcohol;

WHEREAS, the other members of the Board previously advised Board Member
Mike Kahoe of the Board members’ concern with his inappropriate conduct that does not
reflect positively on the Board as a whole and is not consistent with the conduct expected
of a member of the Revere Local School District Board of Education or the stated
philosophy of the Revere Local School District;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Education of the

Revere Local School District, County of Summit, State of Ohio, that:

Section 1: The Board of Education of the Revere Local School District publicly
censures Board Member Mike Kahoe for conduct unbecoming a member of this Board by
engaging in inappropriate conduct as stated above and for failing to uphold the standards
of ethical, civil and responsible conduct as a member of the Board of Education and a
representative of the Revere Local School District.

Section 2: It is found and determined that all formal actions of the Board concerning
and relating to the adoption of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of the
Board and that all deliberations of the Board and of any of its committees that resulted in
such formal action were adopted in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all
legal requirements including R.C. §121.22.
