After researching I have chosen BILLABONG international limited as the company which is a clothing
brand and the position I have chosen is Human Resource manager.

The position descriptions are:

 Employee recruitment and selection


 Training and development of employees
 Formulating human resource policies
 Managing risks associated with the employees
 Maintain employee relations

My work goals for next twelve months would be:

 Increase the efficiency of the employees through good training programmes


 Recruiting employees suitable for the job
 Formulating an attractive benefit and compensation package for employees and new hires

Five personal goals which would be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and measurable
are:

 Improve employee relations within the company


 Decrease the employee turnover ratio
 Improve the efficiency of employees
 Control risks associated with the working of employees
 Hire new employees

Billabong international limited is an Australian based company which is primarily a clothing retailer
in both men and women wear but also deals in accessories like bag pack and watches. This company
was founded in 1973 by Rena merchant. Billabong clothing has acquired many companies such as
Von Zipper which is an eyewear brand, Tigerlily etc.

Company Objectives are:

 To provide quality products at an economical cost


 To put a consumer at the centre of every interaction
 Complete transparency in how they operate with their customers.
 Create a streamlined and targeted form of communication with their customers
 Continue to build their social platform.

The job role I would be interested in is Human Resource manager. I am interested in this job role
because I have a key interest in human resource section and handling employees and their work.
The key responsibilities of this job would be:
 Employee recruitment and selection
 Training and development of employees
 Formulating policies regarding to human resource.

The personal goals I have identified and the company objectives are interlinked to one another i.e.
the company’s objective is to provide quality products at economical cost which can only happen
when the employees making that product are well trained and they know what they are doing.
Thus the main goal of the human resource manager would be to make sure every employee knows
what he is doing and the quality of the product should not be compromised. Another objective of
the firm is to create a targeted form of communication with the employees that can only happen
when the firm has an effective CRM team who knows how to communicate with the customers, it
is the responsibility of the HR manager to train employees in this aspect and hire new ones if the
company needs it.

The tools that mangers can use to manage their work priorities are:

 Divide and conquer- This is the most common and effective tool to manage work priority
where a manager breaks down big tasks into smaller ones and assigns them to different
individuals it helps the work get done pretty fast.
 Excel templates- these templates provide methodology, guides and help the people to
understand how to get the work done.
 Zoho people- this is a management software which helps organisations manage employee
data. There are number of tools in this software which helps the organisation to track
employee leaves, manage timesheets, manage performance appraisal etc.

The five impacts of workplace stress are:

 Mental illness
 Low morale in employees
 Wanting to quit the job
 Use of drugs or alcohol to cope with the stress
 Depression.

Strategies to address this:

 Encourage open communication- the organisation should build an atmosphere where all
the employees can talk openly about any problem or challenges that they are dealing with
 Flexibility in work- improve flexibility in work allows the employees to manage their
workload as well as getting a break whenever they feel stressed
 Provide mental health programmes- where people understand the dangers of facing
mental health issues and ways that they can cure this disease.
 Take good care of your nutrition and diet- diet is the most important aspect of one’s
health. Employees should make sure they take care of their diet to reduce stress as well as
other illness.
 Encourage employee recognition- whenever an employee gets recognised by his office
member his morale increases and it motivates him to do his work properly, so an
organisation should make sure they have good employee recognition programmes.

tell the employees on how to do that particular work

Advantages: these templates provide methodology, guides and help the people to understand how

Disadvantages: these templates are difficult to customize

How it assists in planning and prioritizing work: all the information that a manager needs gets provided
to him in one place so he does no have to waste time on finding data.

Advantages: helps the organisation to track employee leaves, manage timesheets, manage

I participated in the marketing development activity organised by a firm named Rio Tinto which
was organised on 10th October, 2019. The purpose of participating in this activity was to:

 Understand how a marketing manager operates or works


 What are the key responsibilities of a marketing manager
 To develop and improve my marketing skills
 To develop my communication skills which is very important in marketing

The skills I developed through this development programme are:

 Network ability and communication skills


 How to talk to potential clients
 Teamwork skills which is very important in marketing
 Various strategies implemented by firms to market their products or services

The things I liked the most about the activity are:

 The programme helped me understand how to work in the marketing industry


 It developed my communication and negotiation skills
 I came to know about different marketing strategies which can be applied to a product or
service
 The activity conductors were really helpful and answered all the queries I had regarding
marketing

The things I liked least about the activity are:

 The duration of the activity was very small, I was not able to understand a lot of concepts
 As there were a lot of people attending the activity, there was lack of personal contact
 A lot of the things told can only be utilised in an organisation.

The overall benefits of participating in this activity were that I was able to understand how a
marketing official operates and what are the necessary skills required to be a successful marketer.
