TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
B. Review

Before we proceed with our topic for today,

let us first have a short review about our last
lesson.

Yesterday, we tackled the different kinds of

fractions and supporting details.

As a review, please open you self-learning

kits on pages 4 -5 and look for the activity,
What I Know.

If you want to answer, just raise your right

hand. Each correct answer is equal to one
credit point for the next quiz.

Are you ready?

Yes, ma’am!
(The teacher will read the instructions for
Activity 1 pp. 4 and 5.)
(The students will read and answer the
items.)

C. Motivation

Great job answering the review questions!

This time, we are going to play a game! Are
you excited? Yes, ma’am!

This game is called “Scrambled Words”.

Your class will be divided into 4 groups.
Each group will be given a flag to raise
when they want to answer.

Now, here is the mechanics.

I will be flashing words on the screen. Then,

you must guess the scrambled words. The
first group to raise their flag will be called
to answer. If their answer is wrong, then,
other groups may steal.

Are we clear with the instructions?

Yes, ma’am!

Are there questions?

None, ma’am!

Okay, let us start!

(The students will play the game)

D. Presentation/Lesson Proper

Alright! Now is the time that we learn about

our new topic for today which is about
Addition of fractions.

Please turn your Self-Learning Kits to pages

6-8 and I will give you 15 minutes to read
and understand the lessons written on those
pages.
If you have questions anytime while
reading, raise your hand and we will clarify
your concerns about the topic.

(The students read about Addition of

fractions.)

Ma’am, will you please give us more

examples on adding fractions with similar
and dissimilar terms.

Of course!
(Teacher will give and discuss more
examples.)

E. Generalization

Based on your understanding about the

lesson how do we add similar and dissimilar
fractions?

Ma’am, in adding similar fractions just add

the numerators and copy the same
denominator. While in dissimilar fractions,
change the fractions into similar by finding
the GCF, then just follow the steps in
adding similar fractions.

Very good answer!

F. Evaluation

Right now, it is time to know if you truly

understood our lesson today. Please turn
your Self-Learning Kits on pages 9-11 and
look for activities 1 and 2. The activities are
related to the lessons you learned in your
SLK. I will give you 20 minutes to answer.

Now, we will check your works. Let’s start

with activity no. 1 followed by activity no.
2.
(The teacher will read the instructions.)
(The students will read the items then
answer.)
G. Assignment

Answer activities, 3 and 4 of your learning

kits on pages 11-15.
