Student Response and Assessment Tools

Lesson Idea Name:

- How Many Are There?
Content Area:
- Math
Grade Level(s):
- Kindergarten
Content Standard Addressed:
- MGSEK.CC.5:
Count to answer “how many?” questions.
Technology Standard Addressed:
- 1: Empowered Learner:
Students leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving, and demonstrating
competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences.
Selected Technology Tool:
☐Socrative ☐iRespond ☐ Quizlet ☐Plickers XKahoot! ☐ Office365 Forms
☐Other:
URL(s) to support the lesson (if applicable):

Technology that student will use to respond to questions/prompts:
XComputer ☐Hand-held student response system (like iRespond) XPhone XTablet (such as iPad)
XOther wireless device (such as iPod Touch)
Type of session:
X Teacher-Paced ☐ Student-Paced
Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy Level(s):
☐ Remembering ☐ Understanding X Applying ☐ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☐ Creating
Levels of Technology Integration:
☐Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.
X Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-driven.
Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning newscast,
posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce the
SRT activity.
- We will be going over the lesson plan and reviewing what we know already about the topic. I will answer
any questions that the students may have and then have them begin the Kahoot! as a class.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
X Assess prior knowledge X Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) X To illuminate common
misconceptions X Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and mastery
for ALL students) X Summative assessment of content knowledge X Test preparation
X Survey/Poll X Discussion starter X “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:
- During the activity students will be answering questions about different topics. This is for the purpose of
testing their knowledge and seeing what they know and have learned. They do not need any materials
besides the device that they will be taking the quiz on. The activity will last for a minimum of five
minutes (per quiz) plus the time it takes to discuss all of the answers that the students want to talk
about.

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
X Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
- NA
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
X Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and display
correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
X Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
- I think it is extremely important to let the students know what their results are after any kind of
assessment so that they can learn and improve on what they know and are learning.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
- After the activity is completed we will go through all of the answers and see what each student got right
or wrong. We will go over any of the questions that the students want to go over so that they can
understand more about how they did. Doing this will help out in the long run and will greatly help them
with what they will learn in the future.
How will the data be used?
- The data will be used to shape the students’ learning for the rest of the school year. We will have
random quizzes similar to this throughout the year to further assess their learning. How they do on
these assessments will determine how fast or slow we go through the year’s lessons and what all we will
be able to do.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
- I hope to be able to come up with different ways to improve my teaching styles. No one is perfect and
we can all learn how to do better in everything that we do. I believe having tools like this will greatly
help both me as a teacher and my students as a whole. I want to show my students as well as myself
more about how being technologically savvy can greatly help everyone learn.
Reflective Practice:
- I feel like this lesson could help with keeping the attention of my students on their learning by showing
them how fun and varied learning can be. The Kahoot! that I created is more like a bonus quiz. It could
be taken as a pre-test, test during the lesson, or a post-test. I could further extend this lesson by either
adding more questions, making the quiz harder, or even creating multiple more quizzes to give them.
