Handling Syringes
Sometimes syringes can be found inside the guest room. Proper handling of syringes is
important for the GRA’s safety
2. Use gloves to handle the needle, never use your bare hands and never attempt to put
the cap back on the needle.
4. Put the syringe inside the plastic container without having direct contact with it.
Take extra caution since many injuries occur when cleaning the bathroom.

1. Check the drain and pop up / plug for hairs and foreign matter
2. Wet the sides of the bath tub then scrub with scouring pad and detergent and rinse
CleaningToilet5
Making sure that the toilet is clean and sanitary is very important. A hotel may look
perfect with every other aspect but if the toilet is neglected, it will all be a waste.
Attention to detail is a vital skill in cleaning the toilet.
Despite all the efforts to please the guest, the GRA’s health should also have to be
considered. Therefore, the GRA is required to wear protective gloves whenever cleaning
the toilet.
3. Wash lid and dry – both sides and near back hinges.
4. Wash seat and dry – both sides and near back hinges.
6. Wash and dry the water tank and polish the flusher.
7. Flush the toilet and scour bowl thoroughly – use a toilet brush.
9. Conduct final inspection – leave lid down when thoroughly cleaned. Add hygiene strip,
if appropriate.
It is very important to make sure that any trace of the previous guest is not evident.
Check and recheck to make sure that the toilet is clean, including the lid and seats on
both sides.
Traces of the cleaning agents must also be wiped clean because this can cause discomfort
when the skin comes into contact with it.
Topic 3: Cleaning the Vanity Area
The most commonly used area in the bathroom is the vanity area. The guest uses it to do
various tasks. Personal bathroom items of the guest are stored here.
Vanity top
Wash Basins
Taps
Mirror
Cupboards
Face towels
Hand towels
Amenities
Soap containers.
Hair dryer
Magnifying mirror
PPE should be worn before cleaning the vanity area. Cleaning the vanity area is much
easier when the guest has already left or checked-out since personal items of the guest is
still placed in the vanity area when a room is still occupied.
8. Replenish stock – soap, tissues, facial items, shower caps, water
Make sure to place the guest’s personal items back in the vanity area where you have
found them.
Topic 4: Cleaning the Bathroom Floor
Bathroom floors can become very dirty during the stay of the guest. It is essential that
this is kept cleaned and dry.
Various elements such as dirt, dust, hairsprays, soaps, and shampoos used by the guest
can make the bathroom floor very dirty. Tiled floors look best when they are spotless. It
takes little effort to soil them. Grime buildup on the tile grout can make the bathroom
floor look dirty. Cleaning the bathroom floor not only makes it look good but is also good
for the guest’s hygiene.
1. Remove everything that may be on the bathroom floor such as mats, trash cans, and
small pieces of furniture
2. Sweep the floor to remove dirt, hair, dust, and other debris
7. Rinse the floor and use a squeegee to push residual moisture to one area of the floor
