Scope
The scope of this document is to describe the procedure of preparations and cutovers involved
in Zain Iraq Modernization Project tasks.
Preparations
- Checking materials readiness on site.
- Field team to Check received materials and revise it as per Config, any missing material
should be reported on spot.
- DC power and fiber optic cables must be systemized on tower by clamps all over the
path from the radios to the RBS cabinet.
- New baseband 6630 to be installed and configured using Ericsson Site Integration or
ZT-LMT and to check reachability with BO integrator.
- If ping test is ok then team should confirm with integration team that New BB is
reachable, otherwise troubleshooting with TRM team to get the BB reachable.
Attention
- For sites with single/dual band antenna where the antenna will be Tri band then the
existing combiners will be removed, if proper jumper length is required.
- For Sites with two different antenna heights normally the 3G antenna is higher than
GSM- hence modernized antenna will be installed on higher length
- For swapped Radio Action Fiber & DC power cables might be reused, if the new radio
is installed on same length and DC Radio power connector is matched to the new
Radio otherwise new fiber and power cables with proper length will be needed
- In some cases, there might be needed to install new RF path as current will be impacted
due New Antenna height Or Radio shifting.
1. Baseband Solution
Case 1:
For sites with One or Two DUG and DUW(s) for WCDMA (900/2100).
- Check the readiness of BB 6630 scripts.
- Ask BO integrator to lock all cells.
- Connect to DUG and save IDB(s) for fallback necessity.
- Install new BB 6630.
- Connect CPRI cables for LTE from ERS/RRUS to BB 6630.
- Configure the BB 6630 by commissioning scripts to work as MM (G+L).
- When configuration is finished, dismantle DUG(s) and the CPRI cables from
DUG(s) (CPRI cables between RUS/RRUS and DUG(s)) hence G900 Will be
on BB6630
- 3G still remain on DUW or BB
- Inform the BO integrator when you finish
Case 2:
For sites where there is only 1xBB 5216/6630 working in MM (G+W)
- Check the readiness of BB 6630 scripts.
- Ask BO integrator to lock all cells.
- Install new BB 6630.
- Configure the BB 6630 by commissioning scripts to work as MM (G+L).
- When configuration is finished, swap CPRI cables for 2G from existing BB
to new BB.
- (CPRI cables between ERS/RRUS and existing BB that will be used for
G/L 1800).
- Existing BB will be reconfigured from MM (G+W) to SM W only. (BO
integrator request to make this reconfiguration either from his side or
from site by sending new scripts).
- Inform the BO integrator when you finish.
Method of Procedure

Case 3:
For sites that have 2xBB 6630 or 3XBB 6630 (GSM is Standalone & running on
one of these Baseband)
- Check the readiness of BB 6630 scripts.
- Ask BO integrator to lock all cells.
- BO integrator request to reconfigure one of the existing BB to work as MM
(G+L).
- -When choosing the existing BB to work on, apply board restore
procedure to return the BB to its initial configuration.
- Configure the chosen BB 6630 by commissioning scripts to work as MM
(G+L).
- When configuration is finished, connect LTE and 2G CPRI cables to the BB
- in which you did the new configuration.
- Inform the BO integrator when you finish.
Case 4:
For sites with 3 DUG or More
- Check the readiness of BB 6630 scripts.
- Ask BO integrator to lock all cells.
- Install new BB 6630.
- Connect CPRI cables for LTE from ERS/RRUS to BB 6630.
- Configure the BB 6630 by commissioning scripts to work as SM L
- If 3G still on Site DUW or BB remain no touch
- Inform the BO integrator when you finish
2. Radio solution

- Before any cell locking, prepare the Radio (s) 4429 B3 as per E//
instructions.
- Install the Radio(s) 4429 B3 as per E// instructions and follow Safety &
Health policies.
- Connect the jumpers from Radio(s) and RET(s) to the antenna.

supply unit.
Case 2
4X4 MIMO and there is partial or full DCS with radios
Existing Radio like RUS01, RUS02, RRUS01, RRUS 12 Or Radio 2219 will be
modernized to Radio 4429

instructions.
- Install the Radio(s) 4429 B3 as per E// instructions and follow Safety &
Health policies.
- Connect the jumpers from Radio(s) and RET(s) to the antenna.
- Check if the existing Fiber & Power to be reused with Radio 4429 if not
install new ones
- Connect the fiber optic cables between BB & Radio 4429 according to the
Baseband cases for MM (G+L) mentioned before in Baseband solution in
order the radio to work as MM (G+L).
- Dismantle B3 RU/RRU/Radio 2219.
Case 3
