Sri Advaitastaka, Eight Prayers Glorifying Lord Advaita, by Srila

Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya

Text 1

gagga-tire tat-payobhis tulasyah

patraih puspaih prema-hugkara-ghosaih

prakatyartham gauram aradhayad yah

sriladvaitacaryam etam prapadye

gagga - of the Ganges river; tire - on the shore; tat - of

that river; payobhih - with the waters; tulasyah - of the sacred

Tulasi plant; patraih - with leaves; pucpaih - with flowers;

prema - of pure love of God; hugkara - ghocain - with loud

cries; prakatya - for the appearance; artham - for the purpose;

gauram - Lord Caitanya; aradhayat - worshipped; yah - who;

srila-advaita-acaryam - Srila Advaita /Acarya; etam - to him;

prapadye - I surrender.

Let me surrender to Srila Advaita Acarya, who with tulasi

leaves, flowers, water from the Ganges' shore, and loud calls of

love, worshiped Lord Gaura and begged Him to appear.

Text 2

yad-dhugkaraih prema-sindhor vikarair

akrstah san gaura-goloka-nathah

avirbhutah cri-navadvipa-madhye
criladvaitacaryam etam prapadye

yat - of Whom; hugkaraih - because of the loud cries;

prema - of pure love of God; sindhoh - of the ocean; vikaraih -

with ecstatic transformations; akrstah - attracted; san -

being; gauga - golden; goloka - of Goloka Vrndavana;nathah - the

Lord; avirbhutah - manifested; cri-navadvipa - ofNavadvipa;

madhye - in the midst.

Let me surrender to Srila Advaita Acarya. Attracted

by His loud calls, the golden Lord of Goloka Vrndavana, who is

an ocean of ecstatic love, appeared in Sri Navadvipa.

Text 3

brahmadimam durlabha-prema-purair

adinam yah plavayam asa lokam

avirbhavya crila-caitanyacandram

criladvaitacaryam etam prapadye

brahma-adinam - of Lord Brahma and others; durlabha -

difficult to attain; prema - of pure love of Godhead; puraih -

with floods; adinam - even to the lowest persons; yah -

Who;plavayam asa - inundated; lokam - the worlds;avirbhavya -

having caused to appear; crila-caitanyacandram - Lord

Caitanyacandra.

Let me surrender to Srila Advaita Acarya who, by making the


moon of Lord Caitanya rise, flooded the world with a love even

Brahma and the great demigods cannot attain.

cri-caitanyah sarva-cakti-prapurno

yasyaivajna-matrato 'ntardarde 'pi

durvijneyam yasya karunya-krtyam

criladvaitacaryam etam prapadye

cri-caitanyah - Lord Caitanya; sarva - all; cakti -

ofpotencies; prapurnah - full; yasya - of whom;eva - indeed;

ajna - the order; matratah - by only; antardadhe -

disappeared;api - although; durvijneyam - difficult tounderstans;

yasya - of Whom; karunya - of mercy; krtyam - activity.

Let me surrender to Srila Advaita Acarya, whose mercy is beyondunderstanding, and by whose
request alone all-powerful

Lord Caitanya disappeared from this world.

srsti-sthity-antam vidhatum pravrtta

yasyamcamcah brahma-visnv-icvarakhyah

yenabhinnam tam maha-visnu-rupam

criladvaitacaryam etam prapadye

srsti - creation; sthiti - maintenance; antam - and


annihillation; vidhatum - to perform; pravrttah - engaged;yasya - of Whom; amca - parts; amcah - of the
parts; brahma - Lord

Brahma; vicnu - Lord Visnu; icvara - and Lord Siva;

akhyah - named; yena - by whom; abhinnam - not different;tam - to

Him; maha-vicnu - of Lord Maha-Vicnu; rupam - form.

Let me surrender to Srila Advaita Acarya, who is not

different from the form of Lord Maha-Visnu, and whose parts and

parcels are the Brahma, Visnu, and Siva engaged in the creation,

maintenance, and destruction of the worlds.

Text 6

kasmimccid yah cruyate cacrayatvat

cambhor ittham cambhavan-nama dhama

sarvaradhyam bhakti-matraika-sadhyam

criladvaitacaryam etam prapadye

kacmimccit - somewhere; yah - Who; cruyate - is heard;

ca - and; acrayatvat - because of being the shelter; cambhoh -

of Lord Siva; ittham - in this way; sambhavat-nama - the name

of Lord Siva; dhama - abode; sarva - by all; aradhyam -

worshipable; bhakti - by devotion; matra - alone; eka - one;

sadhyam - attainable;

Let me surrender to Srila Advaita Acarya, who is worshiped

by all, who is attained only by devotional service, and who, as

is heard in a certain Vedic literature, because He is Lord Siva's

shelter, has a name and glory like Lord Siva's.


Text 7

sita-namni preyasi prema-purna

putro yasyapy acyutananda-nama

cri-caitanya-prema-pura-prapurnah

criladvaitacaryam etam prapadye

sita - cita-devi; namni - named; preyasi - dear wife;

prema - of pure love of Godhead; purna - full; putrah - son;

yasya - of Whom; api - and; acyuthananda - Acyutananda;nama -

named; cri-caitanya - for Lord Caitanya; prema - pure love;pura -

with the flood; prapurnah - filled.

Let me surrender to Srila Advaita Acarya, who is flooded

with love for Lord Caitanya, and whose beloved Sita-devi and sonAcyutananda are also filled with love.

nityanandadvaitato 'dvaita-nama

bhaktyakhyanad yah sad-acarya-nama

cacvac-cetah-sancarad-gaura-dhama

criladvaitacaryam etam prapadye

nityananda - from Lord Nityananda; advaitatah - because

ofnon-difference; advaita - advaita; nama - named; bhakti -

ofdevotional service; akhyanat - because of description; yah -


who; sat - pious; acharya - acharya; nama - named;cacvat -

eternal; cetah - mind; sancarat - appearing;gaura - LordCaitanya;

dhama - abode.

Let me surrender to Srila Advaita Acarya, whose heart is

Lord Gaura's eternal home, who is named Advaita because He is not

(a) different (dvaita) from Lord Nityananda, and who is named

Acarya because He teaches devotional service.

Text 9

pratah pritah pratyaham sampathed yah

sitanathasyastakam cuddha-buddhih

so 'yam samyak tasya padaravinde

vindan bhaktim tat-priyatvam prayati

pratah - in the early morning; pritah - delighted;

pratyaham - every day; sampathey - may read; yah - who;sita-

nathasya - of Lord Advaita, the Lord of Sita-devi; astakam -

eight verses; cuddha - pure; buddhih - mind; sah - he;ayam -

thatvery person; samyak - completely; tasya - of Him;pada - feet;

aravinde - for the lotus flower; vindan - attaining; bhaktim -

devotion; tat - to Him; priyatvam - the state of being

dear;prayati - attains.

A perse whose intelligence is pure and who every morning

happily reads these eight verses glorifying Lord Advaita, the

husband of Sita, attains devotion for His lotus feet and becomes
dear to Him.
