1What is a force? Name few different type of forces(at least 5).

1. gravitational force
2. electromagnetic force
3. nuclear force
4. Frictional Force
5. Magnetic Force
2What are contact and non-contact forces? Give at least 2
examples of each.
1. A non-contact force is a force which acts on an object without
coming physically in contact with it. The most familiar example of a
non-contact force is gravity, which confers weight. In contrast a
contact force is a force applied to a body by another body that is in
contact with it.
2. A contact force is any force that requires contact to occur. ...
Moving a couch across a floor, pushing a car up a hill, kicking a ball
or pushing a desk across a room are some of the
everyday examples where contact forces are at work.
3. How forces are important to us? Give example for
each type of forces-
3. Gravity is very important to us. We could not live on Earth without it.
The sun's gravity keeps Earth in orbit around it, keeping us at a
comfortable distance to enjoy the sun's light and warmth. It holds
down our atmosphere and the air we need to breath .
4. When air resistance acts, acceleration during a fall will be less than
g because air resistance affects the motion of the falling objects by
slowing it down. Air resistance depends on two important factors -
the speed of the object and its surface area. Increasing the surface
area of an object decreases its speed.
5. Friction can be a useful force because it prevents our shoes slipping
on the pavement when we walk and stops car tyres skidding on the
road. When you walk, friction is caused between the tread on shoes
and the ground. This friction acts to grip the ground and prevent
sliding. Sometimes we want to reduce friction.
4. What would happen if gravity is not there? Imagine
you are living on a planet without gravity. Write a
paragraph on your experience .
1. A lack of gravity would eventually take its toll on our very planet,
writes Masters. "Earth itself would most likely break apart into
chunks and float off into space." ... Eventually there
would be no clumps of matter, like stars or planets, anywhere in
the Universe.

5. Why friction is important for us? Share at least 2

ideas supporting importance of friction in everyday life.
1. Although you normally hear about trying to reduce or
eliminate friction, it actually has some important uses.
Since friction is a resistance force that slows down or prevents
motion, it is necessary in many applications where you might want
to hold items or do things and prevent slipping or sliding.
6. How air-resistance helps us when we are falling
from a certain height?

1. when air resistance acts, acceleration during a fall will be less than

g because air resistance affects the motion of the falling
objects by slowing it down. Air resistance depends on two important
factors - the speed of the object and its surface area. Increasing the
surface area of an object decreases its speed.
