NARRATIVE REPORT
The COVID-19 pandemic is definitely a health issue. The severe
short-term disruption has been felt by all families and has greatly affected the education
system not just in our country but in the whole world. The crisis crystallizes the dilemma we
are facing whether to forego opening of classes this school year, reducing contact and saving
lives, or keep schools opened within the usual opening as provided by law and face a great
challenge. Dep Ed is guided with the pronouncement of our Secretary, Leonor M. Briones,
“Education Must Continue”. Indeed, the issuance of DepEd Order No. 007, s. 2020 School
Calendar and Activities for School Year 2020-2021 and Basic Education Learning Continuity
Plan, translate the commitment of DepEd to ensure educational continuity amid the crisis but
the health and safety of our learners and the whole school communities are of utmost
importance and must be protected at all times.
Araling Panlipunan Teachers were gathered for the Re-echo of Orientation on Learning
Continuity Plan in the new normal of Araling Panlipunan conducted last July 6, 2020 held at
Castillejos National High School. Mr. Noorvee was the speaker for the orientation. He
discussed and explained us all the topics and participants were filled with so much
knowledge. Mr. Noorvee Gonzales discussed all the topics about the Learning Continuity
Plan. It was discussed that The challenge of SDO Zambales is to implement the flexible
teaching and learning delivery options amid the crisis and shall not compromise the delivery
of quality education. We must put all our efforts to implement our plans anchored to the four
cornerstone of success; creativity, communications, collaborations and critical thinking in this
new normal of basic education.
DepEd still lays out plans and prepares for the school opening, and I believe that Learning
Continuity Plan (LCP) will be flexible and “contextualized” based on the unique needs of
learners in various areas. The Learning Continuity Plan of DepEd is not a one-size-fit-all
policy. The modality to be used will be responsive to the context and available resources of
the schools and the learners. DepEd will be implementing Blended Learning approach to
ensure learning continuity amid COVID-19 crisis. This approach, he explained, “refers to a
learning delivery that combines face-to-face with any or a mix of online distance learning,
modular distance learning, and TV/Radio-based Instruction. Blended learning will enable the
schools to limit face-to-face learning, ensure social distancing, and decrease the volume of
people outside the home at any given time.”
DepEd has been preparing for various learning delivery modalities to suit every learner’s
need and capacity. “DepEd puts focus on self-learning modules as the primary learning tool
that can cater to all students, which can then be blended with other learning delivery
modalities that the student has access to,” he ended.
The discussions run smoothly and exchanging of ideas were there. Teachers were satisfied
and enlighten with their concerns and filed with information’s.
The orientation ended well and everyone went home feeling light.
