Sub: ROB NO 290 at Km 58/900-59/000. EXG.1x25150 span RCC slab .Proposed
1x40, 000 SK (24626 SQ) Bowstring girder superstructure and 1x11550 SQ
(18760 SK) clear span PSC solid slab between Ettumanoor & Kottayam-
Design of retaining wall reg.
Ref: Your Letter No.352/I/CN/ERS/ROB/290/Design.
The following revisions carried out in the design and drawing as per the letter
cited above.
1. The minimum dimension required in the stem tip is corrected to 200mm.
The clear cover is kept 50mm.
2. The base slab width to toe width is kept in the ratio 3:1.
3. The angle made by the pressure face with horizontal is considered in the
present design. The angle considered is 10º
4. The value of wall friction δ is taken 2/3 angle of φ.
5. In the stability analysis depth is considered up to bottom of foundation.
6. Stem reinforcement is curtailed 50% beyond its required height.
7. The pressure on soil is tabulated in the drawing.
8. The size of stem and base slab are provided with optimum size.
9. The earth pressure/surcharge/lever arm is calculated as per IRC-6.clause
214.1
10. The additional load due to surcharge 1.2m height is added for base pressure
calculation.
