WHAT TO TEACH AND HOW TO TEACH

A Professional Teacher must be effective to their learners in order to communicate and

disseminate information. Mastery of the subject matter is one of the professional qualities, in my case I’m
a teacher of TVL – ICT for Senior High School and since I have a computer related major I can easily
master the lessons written in books which are guided by a Curriculum Guide. There is subject matter that
given to the students based on their grade level and their understanding as well so that the lessons will be
effective to them as we teach. The lesson we will teach to our students must not be limited on what we
had in our Guides and Books, we can always expand the topics and apply more variation to our lessons so
that the students will have more interest in the subject matter and able to cope up until your next lesson.

Teaching a particular subject or subject that is not your forte is possible; the key is your mastery of the
lesson and understanding the other subject matter even if it’s in simplest way. An effective teacher
delivers his/her lesson to students that have different interest, background, experiences and abilities, so
that the lesson and topics must be planned well in order for the students learn your lesson. To teach your
students about the topics of your lesson you can use different variations such as giving them lecture and
explain it afterwards or you can also make them perform the physical task that is related to the topic. The
interaction between the Teacher and the Students must be balance so you can ensure that your delivery of
the lesson is successful and all your students learned and remember your lesson.

As we face great changes today, the Teacher must be more resourceful and knowledgeable because
teaching in a virtual form by using the latest technology is quite different experience rather than facing
your students. It is a challenge for us to develop students’ knowledge in distanced learning method but as
Professional Teachers that has a mastery of lessons and other personal qualities such as teaching skills,
management and evaluation skills etc. we can deliver lesson as good as having a face to face classes. The
aid of using Learning Management System will be more effective if the teacher that uses it is well
prepared and still learning so that they can share more to their students.
