Questions:
1. According to Socrates, knowledge is wisdom which, in effect, means virtue. Explain this
statement.
2. For Pestalozzi, education is a social process of organized growth and development.
Explain this further.
3. According to Rosseau, “Man is by nature good and virtuous. Do you agree? Justify your
answer.
4. According to John Dewey, learning by doing is effective. Explain this educational
philosophy further.
5. In what respect does realism disagree with idealism?
6. Discuss the basic principle of each classical and contemporary philosophy.
7. How does Plato regard idealism as a philosophical doctrine? Explain your answer.
8. For some philosophical thinkers, pragmatism is more inclined to attitude and method,
rather than to a philosophical doctrine. Comment on this.
9. Compare progressivism and perennialism. Try to identify features of our educational
