How does it work? Valve system
• A valve is needed to meter flow
into and out of the chambers in the
gear wheel
• Spool valve
• Disc Valve
• Rotating valve
• Valve in star
Gear set
• Gerotor
• Geroller
MENU
7
Geroller vs. Gerotor
• Advantages of Gerotor motor
• Cost!
• White: WP
• Danfoss: OML/M, OMP
MENU
8
Spool Valve
• The spool valve is integrated into
the shaft
• The cardan shaft therefore serves
two purposes—to transmit torque,
and to rotate the valve
• This design results in a compact
motor with few rotating parts
• Low cost, simple design, Low
weight
• Used in:
• White: WP, WR
• Danfoss: OML/M, OMP/R, OMH
MENU
9
Disc valve
• Distributor valve separated from
the output shaft and driven by a
separate cardan shaft
• A balance plate counterbalances
the forces around the distributor
valve minimizing volumetric and
mechanical losses
• This design results in precise valve
function with high volumetric
efficiency at all pressures
• No timing error due to deflection in
main cardan shaft
• Used in:
• White: WS
• Danfoss: All big motors
MENU
10
Orbiting valve
• Face on the valve mates with
opening in the manifold.
• Valve is driven by the cardan
shaft.
• As the valve orbits the manifold
ports are opened and covered to
direct flow.
• Good volumetric efficency
• Used in White: WG

2 vs. 3 zone motors
1. High pressure zone
2. Low pressure zone
3. Case pressure zone
• 3 zone motors are used in all
motors except:
• White: WG + RE/RH
• Danfoss: OMEW
