VIDEO-BASED INSTRUCTION DRY RUN NARRATIVE REPORT

School Year 2020 – 2021 opening will not necessarily mean traditional face-
to-face learning in the classroom. DepEd offers Alternative Delivery Modalities in
learning that schools can adopt depending on the COVID-19 restrictions and the
context of the learners in the school or locality. One of these learning delivery
modalities is the Video-based Instruction. The video is made by the teacher and it
will be sent to the students through a Flash drive in which students can watch on
their TV, in their laptops or mobile phones.
In line with this, Talisayan National High School - Grade 11 level teachers
were tasked to conduct a Video-based Instruction dry run. Last July 22, 2020, Sir
Axel Maestrado presided a faculty meeting with the Senior high School Teachers.
In that meeting, we were informed of the said task. Thus, we planned and
organized to conduct the video-based instruction dry run.
Michenie B. Mangmang was assigned to be the teacher in the video
presenting her subject Understanding Culture, Society and Politics (UCSP) under
the first semester in this school year. She also edited the video herself. The
undersign, together with my co – teachers, namely; Joanah Maureen M. Mascual,
Dionnita D. Paderanga, Casey Rayback R. Laurete, Jefred Son U. Aligsao, and Mary
Ann B. Dela Cruz facilitated the survey on Learner’s material Validation
Instrument.
We conducted the survey last July 29, 2020 around San Jose and Poblacion,
Talisayan, Misamis Oriental. We encountered crucial challenges and difficulties
especially in distributing the video to the students and the accessibility of the flat
screen android TV in their homes
. However, with the use of technology, we could easily send videos to students
through online like email or using the app- “Share it” and FB messenger. Students
were given survey forms to fill up after they watch the video presentation.
