FAMOUS BUILDINGS AROUND THE WORLD

A. The Sydney Opera House in Sydney,
Australia, is a very famous building. Jørn
Utzon, a Danish architect, designed it. They
started building it in 1957, and they finished
it in 1973. The building looks like a sailing
boat. There are 1,000 rooms in the Sydney
Opera House. You can visit it to watch a
show or eat in one of its restaurants!

B. In 1904, Antoni Gaudi designed a building


in Barcelona, Spain. Its name is Casa Batlló
because the Batlló family lived there. Today
people can visit this amazing building. Casa
Batlló is very strange. The balconies look
like masks. Look at the walls; they are not
straight. What about the roof? Does it look
like a hat or a dinosaur? What do you
think?
