The Challenge:
The project was a legacy Sauter Controls installation and the customer was facing a huge
challenge with regards to getting support from the earlier system installer. Another challenge the
customer was facing is that since the Sauter Controls system installed was on Novanet protocol
which is a closed protocol they were not able to migrate from the Sauter Controls to any other
platform.
Our system installer contacted us with this challenge and we proposed the NETIX Controls
Software to be used along with a NOVANET to NETIX custom driver.
Since this was a functioning pharmaceutical plant the customer wanted to ensure that there
would be minimal downtime in the migration of the software from Sauter Controls to NETIX
Controls.

The Solution:

Keeping the above challenge in mind our system integrator and our technical team started
working on developing a parallel server to the Sauter Controls software without disturbing the
existing software. We developed the custom graphics, alarm management and custom reports for
the customer. Like any custom driver the integration with Novanet to NETIX had its own teething
issues which we resolved one after another.
Once our parallel server was ready, we migrated the system to the NETIX Controls software by
retaining the 95 Nos. controllers of Sauter on Novanet protocol with a very minimal downtime
over a weekend to ensure smooth transition.
The system was successfully handed over after the complete system validation was done which
included Design qualification (DQ), Installation qualification (IQ) and Operational qualification
(OQ)
