DANGER
All maintenance and repair work on Hänel carousels must be carried out by
specially trained and authorised personnel only. Specially trained and authorised
personnel are:
● Personnel who, because of their specialised education and special training in
a Hänel factory, can provide proof of adequate skills and experience for these
tasks and
● Who have received approval from the manufacturer or an agent authorised
within the technical field to carry out these tasks and can carry out such
tasks in a traceable manner.
SAFETY INSTRUCTION
Only specially trained and qualified personnel may operate the carousel.
Operating personnel have to follow the carousel user guide.
IT specialists have to follow the carousel user guide and the carousel operating
manual.
Installation personnel have to follow the carousel user guide and the carousel
operating manual as well as the installation instructions.
Supervisors, service and maintenance personnel have to follow the carousel
user guide and the carousel operating manual.
SAFETY INSTRUCTION
Compliance with the following is mandatory:
● Safety Memorandum for Technical Field Staff
● Accident prevention regulation
For all work, the legal accident prevention regulations applicable to the
respective country of use always have overriding authority. Furthermore, the
owner/operator may have additional special regulations that also have to be
taken into consideration.
The article storage management system manages the article and storage location-
related data. The article master data are stored on a Compact Flash card.
Storage location-related data are: Storage location (carousel, shelf, compartment, compartment depth)
Container size in direction of compartments and direction of compartment depths
Inventory at storage location (8 characters)
FIFO status
The list management manages the requisition-related data, consisting of the requisition
header and the requisition items. The requisition data are stored on a Compact Flash
card.
Functions: Requisitions can be created, processed, edited and deleted using the keyboard.
Requisitions can also transferred using host communication by file transfer.
Working with quantity factor is possible.
Unprocessed requisition items are registered.
The following requisition strategies are possible:
– Sequential
– Path-optimised
– Time-optimised
Printing of lists

the carousel.
The range of functions offered by each supplementary feature is covered in a separate
description.
Restrictions exist with regard to the possible combinations of supplementary features.

4.2.2 Manual shelf selection by sight (not with individual compartment doors)
✗ The [] / [] keys can be locked using the keylock function.
If the electronics fail, the carousel can be rotated with the manual-
automatic mode selector. For this, the switch must be put into the
left, non-locking manual operation position. The carousel then
rotates slowly downward. The direction of rotation cannot be
reversed.

4.4.2 Carousel run possible only when manually operated sliding doors are closed
A carousel run is possible only when all access points are closed
and locked. For this reason, the access doors should always be
closed after S/R procedures. As soon as one access point is
opened, all other access points are locked.
No carousel run is carried out, as the other access point LIFT RUN FAULT :

The limited operation begins with the next carousel run after the
impermissible imbalance is detected. From then on, each carousel
run is interrupted by the carousel control system after every 4
carriers with the carousel run error message described below:
When an initialisation run is carried out, the load table in the memory
is updated to reflect the current loaded state.
– An initialisation run should also be carried out after each time the
load imbalance is formatted.
During the formatting, the values in the load table are set to a
default value. This default value is set to the actual power value
by an initialisation run.
– An initialisation run should be carried out after storage or retrieval
due to an impermissible imbalance.
During an initialisation run, the carousel must carry out one full
rotation in both run directions at a high speed. You can carry out a
rotation at a high speed by pressing the arrow keys [] / [] and
you must keep the key pressed down for the entire duration.

The search criterion is a character string (termed a match code)
entered by the user. All the search data fields in the memory are
searched for this string. All the data records that match the search
criterion are shown on the display. The more characters contained in
the match code, the narrower the search range will be and the fewer
matching data records will be offered for selection.

List settings For the search functions (match code search), the data records
found are displayed in lists.
The number of lines per page can be defined under "List settings". A
maximum of 50 lines can be shown on a page.
Data fields can be enabled or disabled. Then, only the enabled data
fields are displayed in the list.
The settings are saved and maintained even after the MP control
system is switched off so that they can be modified individually at
any time.
The match code search function allows the user to look for data in
the memory according to various search criteria that can be applied
to different data fields.
The search criterion is a character string (termed a match code)
entered by the user. All the search data fields in the memory are
searched for this string. All the data records that match the search
criterion can be shown on the display. The more characters
contained in the match code, the narrower the search range will be
and the fewer matching data records will be offered for selection.
There are various options for entering a match code:
?<Character string>?<Character string>? • Multiple character strings separated by question marks and with
question marks at the beginning and end.
➔ The system searches for data which contain the various
character strings in the search data field in the order specified.
In the "Article" menu, you can carry out either of two types of match
code search:
― For article master data
― Within an order recommendation list
➔ All the data records that match the search criterion are
shown in a list.
• If necessary, touch the Next button to scroll through
the list.
• Touch the desired data record in the list to select this
article number for the storage/retrieval.
➔ All the data records that match the search criterion are

the list.
• Touch the i button to display the contents of the job.

job.
You can display either of two types of journal in the "Journal" menu:
― Quantity journal (if activated in the formatting) or
― Operations journal (if activated in the formatting)
.
In the "Info" menu, you can display the storage location assignment
of the carousel and carry out a match code search by shelf names.
You can also display explanations of various terms used and the
functions of the keys of the MP 12N MP control system.
You can select the storage location with the following options:
If the storage location is known, you can enter the carousel, shelf,
compartment and compartment depth number in input fields.
The carousel, shelf, compartment and compartment depth
number can be selected using graphical displays.
You can carry out a match code search for shelf names in the "Info"
menu.
The shelf names can be assigned under "Storage location

A carousel run is possible only with the safety system set (green LED in the [] key

safety circuit is interrupted or the monitoring of the MP control system detects invalid
statuses, the carousel run stops. The red LED in the [STOP] key lights up and the
error is listed in plain text on the display.
This chapter lists the errors that can be easily remedied from outside.
After the error is eliminated, the error message must be acknowledged with [] . If
the carousel run was interrupted, it is now resumed.
If an error cannot be eliminated, you have to inform Hänel after-sales service
immediately.
