LEARNING PLAN IN ORAL COMMUNICATION

Objectives

At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:

a. identify the elements of communication;

b. discuss the function/s of each element; and

c. participate actively in group activity.

Duration : 1 hour

Resources Needed

laptop, video clip, paper strips, projector

A. Activity (5 mins)

Pass the Message

Students will be divided into 5 groups. Each group will form a line. The teacher

will give the message written on the strip of paper to the first person. Everybody in the

group will pass the message by whispering it to the next person until it reaches the

last. The last person will reveal the message.

Answer: She sells sea shells by the sea shore.

B. Analysis (15 mins)

1. What can you say about the activity that we had?

2. What difficulties have you encountered in passing the message?


3. Who is the most important person in the line? The first, the middle or the last

person?

4. Among the group members, from whom did the message start?

5. How was the message transferred?

6. What are the elements of communication?

C. Abstraction (30 mins)

The teacher discusses the following elements of communication using projector

Sender/Source – the one who initiates the conversation

Message - what is communicated

Channel – the medium used

Receiver – recipient of the message

Feedback – response of the receiver

Communicative Situation/Context – when and where it happened

Barrier/Noise – anything that interferes in communication

D. Application (10 mins)

The students will watch a video clip about the latest press conference of

presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte. They will identify the elements of

communication presented in the video.
