1. I) 3 girls each bought a cooker of different brands. Each of them had a discount of 11%
on the respective displayed prices. The total amount of discount for all of them was
84,150 Frs. Given that the discount on each cooker was proportional to the life span of
the cooker which is 54 months, 72 months, and 78 months respectively.
a. Calculate the discount granted on each cooker.
b. Determine the displayed price on the cheapest cooker.
c. Find how much the girl who bought the cheapest cooker paid.
II) Consider the polynomial P ( x ) =( 4 x +5 ) ( x+ 2 )=¿
a. Factorize P( x ) completely
b. Expand, simplify and arrange P( x ) in the form

c. Solve in ℝ the equation P ( x ) =0
2. The functions f and g are defined as f :→ x−1 , g :→ x2 −4 Find

iii.Construct a table of values for g[ f ( x ) ] for which −3 ≤ x ≤ 4
iv. Taking 1 cm for 1 unit on both axis, draw the graph of y=g [ f ( x ) ] . Using your graph of
y=g [ f ( x ) ] .
v. Solve the equation y=0.
3. A room measuring 5 m by 6 m is to be tiled with square tiles of sides 25 m each. Given
that one tile cost 400 FCFA . Find:
a. To the nearest whole number the total number of tiles to be used.
b. The total cost of tiles used in tilling the whole room.
4. The figure shows a Venn diagram.
