Guidelines on Format:

1. List of student names should be arranged alphabetically, after the name of


the Group Leader.

2. Font ARIAL 12 double-spaced, for forms and all text. Single spacing for the
Endorsement and Approval Sheet.

3. Paper size: 8½” x 11”; margins: 1” top, right side and bottom, 2” left side.

4. For the abstract, each sub-heading (background) should be followed by a


colon (:).

5. The ABSTRACT includes the following:

a. Background/Rationale
b. Objective
c. Materials and Methods
i. Research Design
ii. Research Locale
iii. Research Respondents/Subjects
iv. Research Instrument
v. Methodology
d. Results
e. Conclusion
f. Keywords

6. For the definition of terms, each variable should be followed by a dash (-)
followed by the definition on how the variable should be measured and
categorized as far as the research is concerned.

7. References will follow Vancouver method of citation and referencing.

- Vancouver is a numbered referencing style commonly used in medicine


and science, and consists of citations to someone else's work in the text,
indicated by the use of a number and a sequentially numbered reference
list at the end of the document providing full details of the corresponding
in-text reference.
- References are listed in numerical order, and in the same order in which
they are cited in text. The reference list appears at the end of the paper.
Begin your reference list on a new page and title it 'References.' The
reference list should include all and only those references you have cited
in the text. (However, do not include unpublished items such as
correspondence). Use Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).
- Print articles: Author AA, Author BB, Author CC, Author DD, Author EE,
Author FF, et al. Title of article. Abbreviated title of journal. Date of
publication YYYY Mon DD; volume number(issue number):page numbers.
- Electronic journal article with DOI: Author AA, Author BB, Author CC,
Author DD, Author EE, Author FF. Title of article. Abbreviated title of

8. There should be at least thirty (30) research journals cited, which should be at
most 5 years old, except if there are no new research journal sources
available.

9. For the research profile, the profile of the research mentor should be
presented first, followed by the research leader, then alphabetically by the
rest of the research group.

10. For hard bound copies, GREEN cover page print will bear same format and
entries as the title page. Backbone will read in GOLD engravings:

“Cebu Doctors’ University College of Medicine Level I – A.Y. 2019-2020”

11. Reminder: Use blue ink in signing endorsement and approval sheets.
Keep at least 3 copies of the endorsement and approval sheets for the final
hardbound copy of your research manuscript.

12. The final requirements for Research in Medicine include:


a. Final hardbound research manuscript (3 copies, one to be submitted to
the Medical Library, one copy to the Medical Education Unit, and another
to the research mentor)
b. One unbound hard copy of the research manuscript for submission to the
CDU-CDUH IERC or one hard copy of the research abstract to the CDU-
CDUH IACUC.
c. Powerpoint slides for oral presentation
d. Poster presentation (8 ½” x 11” portrait orientation)
e. Infographic format of the final research
f. Infomercial video on research presentation
g. Paper in Journal of Scientific Investigation (JSI) format for submission for
publication
h. USB containing all requirements (Medical Library contains soft copy of
final research manuscript, MEU copy contains manuscript, powerpoint,
poster, infomercial and JSI format) to be submitted to the CDUCM
Research Office.
i. Research Form 1, 2, 3, 4 and 11 with complete signatures to be submitted
to the Research Office upon completion of all research requirements. The
rest of the Research Forms 1-17 with complete signatures to be submitted
to the research coordinator.
j. The final research manuscript should be emailed to the Research Office
thru cduresearch2019@gmail.com, labelled as filename
MED.group#.2019.pdf and MED.group#.2019.docx
