“Our priorities are our children of today, the future of a healthy populace”,
1001st Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Roberto D. Domines said in a feeding
program launched by army troops in Compostela Valley Province yesterday
morning.
The 10th Infantry Division in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Metro
Davao and Aztropex Inc. instigated its three-month feeding program to more than
300 children in different barangays of Mawab at Mawab Municipal Gym.
With the theme “It’s time to feed the starving children”, the said program
pursued with a common belief that every child has a right to a nutritious food and
keeps them away from malnutrition.
Malnutrition is one of the largest social illnesses that confront our country.
It is not solely caused by a single physical factor but a multiplicity of factors.
Water, sanitation, economic opportunity, clear cut population control policy, lack
of adequate housing and myriad of basic needs are out of reach to a huge
number of our population. We are confronted with these basic amenities due to
lack of focus on clear cut development programs delving mostly on remedial
solutions.
