TYPES OF GOVERNMENT

COMMUNE
TThe smallest administrative subdivision of the French
territory, administered by a mayor, deputies and a
municipal council.
Within its history, it is defined as a city administered by its
citizens (independent of the feudal lord).

CITY - STATE
A city-state is a sovereign microstate that generally
consists of a single city and its dependent territories.
Historically, this included cities such as Rome, Athens,
Carthage and the Italian city-states during the
Renaissance. As of 2020, there are only a handful of
sovereign city-states, with some disagreement about
which city-states are.

TOTALITARISM
Political regime in which power is exercised by a
single person or party in an authoritarian manner,
preventing the intervention of others and
controlling all aspects of state life.

Example: The Nazis

COMMUNISM
Economic, political and social doctrine that
defends a social organization in which there is no
private property or class difference, and in which
the means of production would be in the hands of
the State, which would distribute goods equitably
and according to needs .

CAPITALISM
Economic and social system based on private
ownership of the means of production, on the
importance of capital as a generator of wealth
and on the allocation of resources through the
market mechanism.

REPUBLIC
Ithe republic is a form of organization of the
State. In the republic, the highest authority
fulfills functions for a certain time and is
elected by citizens, either directly or through
Parliament (whose members are also elected
by the population).

MONARCHY
Monarchy is a form of government of a state in which the supreme office is
for life and commonly designated according to a hereditary order. This
position is called monarch in general terms although this may vary according
to the legal structure of the government or the region, such as king or queen,
emperor or empress, tsar or kaiser. In some cases it is chosen by a select
group, and the state ruled by the monarch also receives the name of
monarchy, along with that of kingdom.

CONSTITUTIONALISM
Constitutionalism is a law that imposes political power that has been
defined as "a complex of ideas, attitudes, and patterns of behavior that
establish the principle that government authority derives from and is
limited by the main body of a supreme law

DEMOCRACY
Democracy is a form of state government where power is exercised by the
people, through legitimate mechanisms of participation in political decision-
making.

The term democracy is extended to communities or organized groups where all


individuals participate in decision-making in a participatory and horizontal
manner.
