INTERNSHIPS
How they relate to training

The word INTERN or INTERNE
means "An advanced graduate or a recent
graduate in a professional field who is get-
ting practical experience under the Super-
vision of an experienced worker."
An Interneship then is serving a period
as an Interne, or an activity offered by
an org by which EXPERIENCE can be
gained.
Interneships have been arranged this
long while for every auditing class.
A COURSE GRADUATE BECOMES
AN AUDITOR BY AUDITING.
That means LOTS of auditing.
An HDC graduate who doesn't then
audit under an experienced Case Super-
visor who knows and demands the stan-
dard actions rarelv gets to be an HDC
AUDITOR. It takes tons of hours to
make a real Dianetic auditor who can toss
off standard sessions and get his routine
miracles.
So if an HDC doesn't INTERNE, but
simply goes on to the Academy Courses
or SHSBC he has skipped his apprentice-
ship as a Dianetic Auditor.
If he gets his Class VI and never interns
but goes on to VIII—well, we now have
somebody who has long since lost touch
with the reality of why he is studying.
Regardless of Class as a course gradu-
ate, a C/S MUST INTERNE HIS AUDI-
TORS FOR EACH INTERNSHIP MISSED
ON THE WAY UP.
The "ok to audit" system is used.
One takes any graduate and Internes
him on the lowest Interneship he has
missed. He reviews his material, gets his
drills checked, gets his misunderstood
words cleared and gets an "ok to audit"
for that level. If he goofs he is crammed.
And sometimes wholly retreaded. The
"ok to audit Dianetics" would be his
first okay. This suspends if he has to
retread.
When he then has turned out pes, pes,
pes, pes, 5, 6, 8, 10 hours a day for weeks
and weeks and is a total success as a
Dianetic Auditor, he can go on up.
Then one day he is word cleared,
checked out on his drills, and he qualifies
for "ok to audit" for IV or VI.
Now it begins all over again. Flubs—
Cramming, midnight oil, audit audit cram-
ming audit audit new word clear new drill
work audit audit audit audit 5, 6, 8, 10
hours a day.
Now he is a IV or VI auditor.
His next real step is a VI or VII
Interne at an SH. If he has been a good
IV Interne Auditor his VI Interneship
after his SHSBC will be a VII Interneship.
VII is an Interne activity.
If he is going to be a good VIII-1X
auditor he will Interne in an AO or SH
under an experienced C/S.
Wherever this function is neglected,
you don't get auditors. You get doubtful
students and out-tech.
On Flag C/Ses have to catch up every
missed Interneship to make a high volume
high quality auditor.
The world renowned Superiority of
Flag Auditors is built just like I am
telling you here.
There is no reason just that same
quality can't be built in any org.
And one day you have IN tech and
high volume high Class auditing all over
the place.
There IS a right way to go about it.
It is by Interneship.
The Technical

I have made a very big Breakthrough
which will greatly assist our expansion

It actually is the Technical Break-
through of 1974 and applies to every

It is the mechanism which causes

Take newspapers for example. They
relay all kinds of information, and dis-
cuss all manner of controversy, but so
often you get to the end of an article
and feel that the real Vital Informa-
tion is missing. You kind of flip the
page to make sure that you're really
at the end. Educational textbooks dis-
guise Vital Information in all kinds of
ways. Authors ride pet theories, and
so on. This is the mechanism at work
. . . and it denies knowledge. Now we
can handle this too.

certificate on your internship at ASHO!
When you complete your training course
with a provisional certificate, you route in to
start. The Intern Supervisor goes over what is
expected with you.
Every day starts with TRs, training drills to
increase ability to BE THERE and audit.

You'll get your basics, TRs and E-Metering,

you've been checked out and word cleared on

Any errors in the previous day's auditing are
corrected in cramming first. Cramming is inten-
sive re-study of materials that cover what the
auditor goofed on.

Interns listen to tapes of their own drills and
sessions, comparing them to model sessions
recorded by L. Ron Hubbard. When you can

trained Qualifications Secretary.
Qual Secretary listens to an intern's taped
session. It ispassed if up to standard or returned
for more work if needed.

Psychiatrist Trains at ASHO
Dr. Frank ("Sarge") Gerbode, psychia-
trist graduated from Stanford University,
is now training full time on the Saint Hill
Special Briefing Course at ASHO.
"When I first came into Scientology
I was very uncertain about what to do
in life. Nothing I had seen seemed worth
doing. I wanted to really help people, but
being a philosophy major hadn't done it,
being a psychiatrist hadn't done it. I was
delighted to find something that actually
worked," he says.
While completing his residency as a
psychiatrist, he did the Dianetics Course
at Palo Alto. "Most Scientologists don't
realize how utterly without a technology
psychiatry is. One tends to go on assum-
ing a person with 14 years of training like
mine must have some sort of technology,
but it's not so," he explains. "I didn't get
significant case change in any of my clinic
patients. So when I became a Hubbard
Dianetic Counselor, I would audit Diane-
tics at night at the Scientology Center
just to do something effective!" he laughs.
He joined staff there as a full time auditor
shortly after finishing his residency.
He's grown used to miracle results now.
"I had one woman who for years had
been unable to ride in planes without

A fluttering uncertainty about what to do with impor-
tant information was keeping me from being very effec-
tive at critical times. The uncertainty was based on so
many different kinds of things that only this rundown
could have handled it properly. Now I've lost all my

Ihad awholc lot of loose ends that I didn't even know
I had. It was amazing to do this internship-I really got
my basics in solid.
The main thing that happened to me was my confront
was amazingly raised. It was a tough internship. But
that was sort of fun. I really got through it and really
feel like I can audit anybody-I don't care who thepre-
clear is, whereas before I used to shy off certain types of
things.
Courses train you, but then you have to go and apply
the tech. While you 're applying it you need that expert
there to keep you on the road, correct you. Really on
the job training.
I was a Class VIII in the field and didn 't have any
