CHAPTER III

RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

This chapter presents the results, discussions and the

personal observations and data the researchers have gathered

during the experimentation process of the potential of

pomelo peels as an alternative fertilizer to tomato plants.

The table shows the difference of the height of the

tomato plants after two weeks of observation from the

initial height and after the application of the treatments.

The results revealed that Treatment 1 (Pomelo peels) has the

fastest growth after two weeks having a mean of 13.74 cm.

The commercial fertilizer gained a mean of 12.96 cm. The

data showed that pomelo peels has the potential to become an

alternative fertilizer to tomato plants.

Computed T-Value 1.13
Tabulated T-Value 2.306 Accept Ho
Legend: *significant at ∞ = 0.05

The method used in determining the significant

difference between the commercial fertilizer and alternative

fertilizer was T-test with α=0.05 significant levels. The

table showed there is no significant difference between the

two treatments used. Thus, the null hypothesis is accepted

as the computed t-value is less than the tabulated t-value.

This indicates that both of the fertilizers used were both

effective in terms of length of the tomato plants upon the

three-week experimentation of the study.

In conclusion, pomelo peels are as effective was the

commercial fertilizer when growing tomato plants. The length

achieved by the tomato plants were nearly the same height in

each treatments. This concludes the potential of pomelo

peels as an alternative fertilizer is accepted.
