Abstract

PRODUCTIVITY, HEALTH BEHAVIOUR AND WELLBEING :

CHALLENGES IN THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION 4.0

Mohamed Saladin Abdul Rasool, Amyra Mat Isa, Siti Nurul

AkmaAhmad

Productivity have been recognized to have a major impact on economic growth and higher
standard of living of human being. Thus, it is vital to address issues such as employees
wellbeing in maintaining productivity, particularly health and other related matters.
Employees health wellbeing is becoming the leading concern of employers as health
wellbeing is closely related to employees’ productivity, In addition, health status is also
closely related with productivity where most of previous studies reveal that employees
productivity will increase with the improved health status. Employees health status,
wellbeing and productivity are widely explored in past studies. However there are limited
study exploring the role of physical and mental health on household health status,
wellbeing and their productivity especially in developing countries like Malaysia. Whether
physical health interventions as a whole can influence mental health and wellbeing, is an
area of research that has not yet been synthesised. Moreover, the importance of wellbeing
research is highly emphasized especially by the national policies as a potential guidance to
the policy choices. Wellbeing measure will contribute to the understanding of progress and
welfare of the societies as well as their health status. For example, The European Strategy
Health 2020 main targets include improving the wellbeing of the European Region
Population. Hence, Malaysia and other developing countries should set the same efforts in
enhancing the wellbeing of population by conducting a robust research on the wellbeing
with the adding appropriate values. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to present a health
behaviour framework comprising Islamic and conventional principles in enhancing
communities' health wellbeing. This paper specifically outlines the challenges faced in
today’s world especially with the existence of industrial revolution 4.0. The digital world
and information technology have changed the lifestyle of mankind in every aspect of life.

Abstract: This paper conducted an experimental study of the modulator

system. It was evaluated to external connection specimen and internal
connection specimen. H-shaped steel was used for beam-to-column
connection and bracket was applied. The result of experiment, excessive
shear deformation occurred in the bracket of all the specimens. However, all
of the specimens did not show reduction in strength until 2% story drift. Thus,
all specimens satisfied the requirement for intermediate moment frames
(IMF) targeted in this study.

Abstract: In this study, accelerated thermal aging of kraft papers
impregnated in mineral insulating oil (MO) and palm insulating oil (PO) are
conducted, where the effect of aging time on oil and papers were observed.
All samples are aged without any contact with air, to imitate the sealed-type
transformer. Each sample consists of insulating oil, kraft papers, and metal
catalysts in a bottle. In preparing samples, oils were pre-treated so that the
moisture content of MO and PO is less than 30 ppm and 200 ppm respectively.
In the case of kraft papers, it was dried in the air-ventilated oven so that its
weight is less 0.05 wt.% of the initial weight. Metal catalysts (copper, iron,
zinc, and aluminum) are also weighted. Prior to aging, bottles are left for 24
hours at room temperature, so that the impregnation could take place. The
thermal aging is fixed at 130 °C for 250, 500, and 750 hours. At the designated
time, data on oil (moisture content, acidity, UV-Vis) and kraft paper (tensile
strength, colour) are presented and discussed. It is noticeable that the aged
18
MDSG CONFERENCES KOTA KINABALU 2020

PO showed higher moisture than aged MO. Yet, kraft papers impregnated in
PO has better tensile strength after 750 h of aging, where it might be due to
the affinity of PO to moisture, causing it to slow down the hydrolytic
degradation mechanism on kraft paper, resulting in kraft papers impregnated
in PO have higher tensile strength compared to kraft papers impregnated in
MO. Additionally, it is shown that kraft paper samples are darker than their
original colour as tensile strength decreased.

Abstract: The context of this paper is a relatively new area in the FWAs
research field, which is expected to discover the idea of integrating human
resource (HR) and management accounting (MA) as strategic partners in
implementing flexible working arrangement (FWA). This paper is important
as it develops the groundwork of more conclusive research. We highlight four
main integration points between HR and MA, hence the FWAs
implementation can be both effective and efficient: Acquisition Plan,
Budgeting Process, Return on Investment and Performance Measurement.

Abstract: Wellbeing is an important aspect of human life. It consists of

various aspects such as material (financial), relational (family) and subjective
(psychological). From an Islamic perspective, wellbeing is viewed in various
ways. Normally it is based on maqasid al-shariah principles. The objective of
the present paper is to discuss wellbeing using the five dimensions or
principles of maqasid al-shariah, namely religosity, wealth, physical self,
posterity and knowledge. The cross section data employs a simple systematic
random sampling in Alor Gajah, a district with one of the highest score of
Malaysian Wellbeing Index 2016. Descriptive analysis and ANOVA test were
undertaken in this quantitative study with a sample size of 160 muslim
household heads. The ANOVA test revealed various relationship between
each maqasid dimensions with socioeconomic and demographic factors.

Abstract: Over 200 years, productivity is analysed in manufacturing domain

and identified based on the economic position that scheming output and input
relation that is more on quantitative in nature. While manufacturing is
remained important for economic growth, the world has evolved into reliance
of service value, where the service sector is becoming increasingly important
for nations to contend in today’s highly competitive business challenges.
Productivity measures in the service sector are more complex than the
manufacturing sector as it is not merely about quantity but depend
intensively on labour quality. In service industry, qualitative measure is
critical because the service tends to be more interactive and depending on
personnel and customer intensive in the service process. The core idea of this
paper is to identify the qualitative labour productivity measure at micro -
level in the service sector, which is still under-research and not captured by
most of the productivity studies. This paper presents a conceptual framework
on the formulation of qualitative labour productivity measure through a
comprehensive systematic review to critically making sense of available
information in current literature and maps out intensive qualitative labour
productivity measures from empirical studies and identifying where little
research have been done in related areas.

Nigel Nicholas Spykerman

Faculty of Business and Humanities, Curtin University

Abstract: There are more prevailing issues with tour activities especially in
rural areas today. On thing for sure, tourism in rural areas offers its own
uniqueness which attracts and satisfies tourists. This paper defines tourist
issues and satisfaction levels are and how a homestay operators’ role can be
transformed to support value creation. This paper’s objective will facilitate to
determine what tourists’ expectations are, what their recent satisfactions are
and how homestay operators can make more to enhance the tourism
activities in Bario. The quantitative research method is used to ascertain the
present expectation and satisfaction levels of tourists in Bario. It is based on
a number of tourism components and features. A survey with mainly closed
ended questions was established and delivered. 235 legible and acceptable
responses were gathered. Respondents gave feedbacks of why they visited
Bario . A Likert scale driven questionnaire was used. The results from
hypothesis testing was fully accepted after detailed analysis and testing. The
study demonstrated a strong correlation between tourist expectations and
satisfaction. The pivot which prevails between tourists and their satisfaction

levels principally lies in the impact and roles of homestay operators. The later
can be said shows a very significant aspect in tourism delivery. Homestay
operators which run the activities for tourists are primed as an additional
substance for tourism development for Bario and its community.

Abstract: The environmental agenda is a big thoughts by the United Nations

especially to the aviation business due to its high regulated industry involve.
Malaysia is one of the member states and this agenda should be implemented
by the airport business. More or less this environmental agenda will influence
the accounting practices among Malaysia airports especially in terms of cost
and budget allocation. The Malaysia airports have the awareness to
implement this environmental practices, however, in which way this practice
being implemented and how far it will impact to the accounting approach still
being question. Therefore, this study seek to examine the way in which the
environmental agenda influences the accounting practices in the Malaysia
airports. The data collected in this study are through interviewing the East
Malaysia Airports with nine (9) personnel altogether. The observation also
take place by visiting the environmental project in the airports. The data then
been analyzed by using thematic approach. Underlying to the social capital
theory, it is found that Malaysia airports have implemented the
environmental practices based on the level of needed and budget that they
have. Then, this environmental practices shapes the accounting approaches
in terms of budget and cost allocation of the East Malaysia airports.
