NORTH CAROLINA,
GUILFORD COUNTY.

THIS INDENTURE, made the 14th day of February,


1924, between R. R. Ragan, Assignee of Mortgagee, party of the
first part, and A. Sherrod, party of the second part, both of
said county and state:

WHEREAS, the party of the second party, by


Indenture of Mortgage bearing date August 25, 1922, and recorded
in the office of the Register of Deeds of Guilford County,
North Carolina, in Book 388, page 300, for the payment of the
money therein specified did convey certain lands, in which
the lands hereinafter described as part, unto S. C. Clark, Mortgagee,
and whereas the said S. C. Clark has duty assigned said mortgage to
R. R. Ragan, which said assignment is duty recorded in the office
of Register of Deeds of Guilford County, and

WHEREAS, the said party of the second part


has requested that the part of the mortgaged premises hereinafter
described be released from the said mortgage, and

WHEREAS, the said R. R. Ragan, Assignee, at the


request of the party of the second part has agreed to give up
and surrender the parcels of land hereinafter described unto
the said party of the second part, and to hold and retain the
residue of the mortgaged lands as security for the money remain-
ing due upon the said Indenture of Mortgage:

NOW THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH: That the said


party of the first part in pursuance of the said request and
agreement and in consideration of the sum of One Dollar ($1.00)
to him duly paid at the time of the ensealing and delivery of
these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, has
granted, released, quitclaimed and set over and by these presents
does grant, release, quitclaim and set over unto the said party
of the second part the said part of the mortgaged lands
bounded and described as follows:

BEGINNING at an iron stake, the north-east


corner of Mrs. J. W. Harris lot and the south-east corner of
E. H. C. Fields Est. lot; thence in an easterly direction,
a continuation of Harris-Fields line, about 20 feet to
the West line of Wrenn Street; thence south along said
line of Wrenn Street, 26 feet; thence west about 20 feet to
a stake, Harris and Millis corner; thence north along
Mrs. Harris line, 26 feet to the beginning, containing 520
square feet, more or less.

TOGETHER with the hereditaments and appurtenances


thereunto belonging and all the right, title and interest
of the said party of the first part of, in and to the same
to the extent that the lands hereby conveyed may be dis-
charged from the said mortgage and that the rest of the lands
in the said mortgage specified may remain to the said party
of the first part as heretofore.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said lands hereby released


and conveyed to the said party of the second part, his heirs
and assigns, to his and their own proper use and behoof forever,
free, clear and discharged of and from all lien and claim under
and by virtue of the mortgage aforesaid.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the said R. R. Ragan, Assignee,


at the request of the said party of the second part has hereunto
set his hand and seal on the day and year first above written.
