“Not Beneficial No-Homework Policy”

The No-Homework Policy by Evelina Escudero aims to give

students more quality time at home with their family. Unfortunately, this becomes
controversial because it gained different reactions from the people most especially from
the students and teachers. In connection to this issue, I think No-Homework Policy by
Evelina Escudero is not beneficial for the students. To justify this, I will present provisions
from the bill and basing it from experiences and observations I have in my school, San
Roque National High School.
Based on the explanatory note of House Bill No. 3611 by Evelina
Escudero, “Homework assignments can deprive students and parents’ precious quality
time for rest, relaxation and interactions after school hours and even on weekends.” But my
homeworks are actually helpful. My interactions with my parents are not affected. After my
homework, I can still rest and our time for relaxation is enough. Doing my homework at
home consumes less than an hour, after that I can relax and do some of the chores.
Next is Sec. 4, it states that “the respective teachers shall not give
a homework assignments to Kinder to Grade 12 students by conducting all lessons and
activities in school. However, some of public school’s class hour is only half day like our
school, San Roque National High School. So, the time is not enough if we’ll conduct all the
lessons and activities in school. Yes, we can conduct all the lessons and activities in school
but it’s too many for us to handle every activities in each subject a day.
Lastly, Sec. Lockers states that “schools shall ensure that each
students shall have locker or a dedicated space that will serve as safety depository for
textbooks”. But there is no enough space and budget for the lockers. Most public schools
like our school can’t afford lockers for each students.
To sum up all the arguments I presented, I can safely say that
No-Homework Policy by Evelina Escudero is not beneficial for the students. Homework is a

big help for me. It actually helps me manage my time and improve my knowledge. It does
not deprive my precious time with my parents. Instead, it serves as an instrument because
through homework I can feel that they care and love me by helping me do my homeworks.
