1.3. Conclusions
Global warming is a highly controversial debate with a variety of different factors influencing
people's thinking and views on it. The effects of global warming and climate change are of
concern both for the environment and human life and it also refers to the increase in the Earth's
overall average temperature over recent decades and its projected increase in coming years.
Mainly we focus in recent years; this term has been used to describe the effect of human
activities on the Earth's atmosphere. If we cannot mitigate the potential effects now, regardless of
the cost, then our survival as a species looks to be directly threatened by the consequences of our
own actions.

1.4. Recommendations
Every research has specific purpose. Behind this research we have also specific purpose. The
general purpose of our study is to find out the awareness about the effect of global warming
among the students of AIUB. After gathering and analyzing all the data we have identified some
problems.
Based on our analyzing and findings we would also like to recommend some additional actions
that will increase the awareness about the global warming of the students.
Student have to know specifically global warming is increasing due to natural and as well
as man-made factors also.
And also have to know humans, animals, plants, climate, land all of are affected by
global warming.
Global warming hampering our basic balance but we have to know how much.
Government should take some steps that people can know about the adverse effect of
global warming.
Our university management can use our result to increase the awareness among the
students.

2. Introduction
The effects of global warming and climate change are of concern both for the environment and
human life. Evidence of observed climate change includes the instrumental temperature record,
rising sea levels, and decreased snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere. According to the IPCC
Fourth Assessment Report, most of the observed increase in global average temperatures since
the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in [human greenhouse gas]
concentrations". It is predicted that future climate changes will include further global warming
(i.e., an upward trend in global mean temperature), sea level rise, and a probable increase in the
frequency of some extreme weather events. Ecosystems are seen as being particularly vulnerable
to climate change. Human systems are seen as being variable in their capacity to adapt to future
climate change. To reduce the risk of large changes in future climate, many countries have
implemented policies designed to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases.
Over the last hundred years or so, the instrumental temperature record has shown a trend in
climate of increased global mean temperature, i.e., global warming. Other observed changes
include Arctic shrinkage, Arctic methane release, releases of terrestrial carbon from permafrost
regions and Arctic methane release in coastal sediments, and sea level rise. Global average
temperature is predicted to increase over this century, with a probable increase in frequency of
some extreme weather events, and changes in rainfall patterns. Moving from global to regional
scales, there is increased uncertainty over how climate will change. The probability of warming
having unforeseen consequences increases with the rate, magnitude, and duration of climate
change. Some of the physical impacts of climate change are irreversible at continental and global
scales. Sea level is expected to rise 18 to 59 cm (7.1 to 23.2 inches) by the end of the 21st
century. Due to a lack of scientific understanding, this sea level rise estimate does not include all
of the possible contributions of ice sheets. Slowing of the Meridional Overturning Circulation is
very likely to occur this century, but temperatures in the Atlantic and Europe will probably still
be higher due to global warming. For a global warming of 1-4°C (relative to 1990-2000), there is
a moderate chance that partial deglaciation of the Greenland ice sheet would occur over a period
Page 4 of 41
of centuries to millennia. Including the possible contribution of partial deglaciation of the West
Antarctic Ice Sheet, sea level would rise by 4–6 m or more.
The impacts on human systems of climate change will probably be distributed unevenly. Some
regions and sectors are expected to experience benefits while others will experience costs. With
greater levels of warming (greater than 2-3°C, relative to 1990 levels), it is likely that benefits
will decline and costs increase. Low-latitude and less-developed areas are probably at the
greatest risk from climate change. With human systems, adaptation potential for climate change
impacts is considerable, although the costs of adaptation are largely unknown and potentially
large. Climate change will likely result in reduced diversity of ecosystems and the extinction of
many species. Adaptation potential for biological and geophysical systems is estimated to be
lower than that for human systems.

2.2. Methodology
Research Design
As our topic is “The awareness about the effect of global warming among the students of AIUB”
so it is an applied research and it will be under the exploratory research. Our method of data
collection is based on mall survey. The effect of global warming is an issue in which we have to
the individual perception of the students. So it is necessary for us to do the personal interview.
This method will let to find the most correct information of the situation. During the interview a
self administered written questionnaire was given to the students. The questionnaire had been
asked some related factors of global warming
In our research the data regarding have come from the primary data source. The questionnaire is
the primary data collection element and the different web sites are the source of the secondary
data collection source.
For the primary data collection we have visited AIUB campus. We have used mall survey
technique and prepared the justification of the research. For data collection we got our
respondents from various locations like AIUB library, study area, canteen, campus area and other
places of AIUB campus. We have set our research objective based on the research objective we
find out the variables. Then based on the variables we prepared the questionnaire that includes 25
questions. We have used survey technique for collecting the data. Then we have analyzed those
and make the results. After that we have recommended on those findings and discussed on the
findings. For the literature we have search on the web to gather information related to the effects
of global warming.
For the research questionnaire almost we have followed the likert scale and other question
patterns. In our research questionnaire all the question was close-ended questions. From the
questionnaire we have tried to find out our all objectives. The questionnaire as primary data
collection source and the different web site list are in the appendix section.
Sample design
A survey of approximately 7000 students the sample has been selected on the basis of the various
department of AIUB. AIUB has faculties like BBA, MBA, EEE, CSE, FASS and some others
departments. On the basis of these departments we have selected our sample of 50 students
randomly.
Fieldwork
For our survey we have followed the mall intercept personal interview survey. According to the
mall intercept personal interview we can get all respondent at the same place. In our research we
know that the AIUB students are the population. So we have taken a decision that if we go to the
university campus then we can get the students at a time in the same place. We used our team
effort to collect the data from the students.
Analysis
After the survey we have input the all collected data in SPSS software. After giving the input in
the SPSS software we have checked and rechecked for many times to analyze the data. We have
put the data in different categories and compare between the outputs.
We have presented the data in the tables. For easy comparing we have put the each category of
data according our questionnaire question serial number one after another. For better comparison
we have followed different cross functional table, mean, median etc. We think this will help the
reader to understand the situation easily.
2.3. Results
Demographic:
For the demographic data we have set some questions in our questionnaire. We have asked eight
several questions like name, age, gender, department, Cgpa, present location, permanent location
and with whom they are living.

2.4. Limitations
The students are always busy with their activities so all of them do not respond for
the survey.
It was not possible to gather 100% correct information because the students didn’t
take the survey seriously and they just ticked the questionnaire without
understanding the subject matter.
We have to complete this study within a short period of time which was not
sufficient for thorough investigation.
Such a study was carried out by us. We are not experienced in this field. As we are
learners so it may be possible to do mistake that one of the main factors of the
limitation of the study.
The population is huge. But because of time limitation we were bound to make our
sample small. It is one of the biggest limitations of our research report.
Global warming is a highly controversial debate with a variety of different factors influencing
people's thinking and views on it. The effects of global warming and climate change are of
concern both for the environment and human life and it also refers to the increase in the Earth's
