Dear Parents and Guardians,

Schools Division of Calamba City (SDO) continues to share updates,

encourage prevention efforts and prepare for continuous learning through
the “new normal” situation.
While no schools shall allow face –to-face classroom setting, we are
collaborating with families and community to support our students learning
while they are at home. Our approach ensures equitable learning access for
ALL students. As there are limitations to an online modality, we are
providing this packet to support continuous learning for all students. In this
packet, you will find discussion, activities and assessment to gauge the
learning outcomes.
In addition, teachers may offer support to learners who have queries
about the packet. We encourage also to utilize the resources indicated in
this packet.
The purpose of this work is to provide your learners the opportunity to
practice standards they need to know this school year. You can support
your child’s learning by doing the following.
This is your guide to assist your children in doing their
activities.

 Set –up a schedule for learning

 Check the completeness and submission of the activity to
the teacher.
 Assist the children if the task needs help.

For inquiries and further assistance, you may email us at

Grade 10
Learner’s At-Home Activity Packet
This At-Home Activity Packet include lessons to be done for
one week. Lesson’s objectives are based from the Most Essential
Learning Competencies (MELC) provided by the Department of
Education, RM No. 306, s. 2020. We encouraged you to complete
one lesson each day.
Most lessons can be completed independently. However,
there are lessons that would need help from the parents or
guardians.
You are encouraged to do your best in doing all activities
given in this packet. The most important thing is that you
continue to work on the lessons for your own self-faced learning.

Important Reminder:
After completing, the assigned tasks based on the agreed date, this
learner’s packets should be returned to designated area where parents or
guardians get the materials.

Grade 10- First Quarter

In this lesson, you will work with patterns. Recognizing and extending patterns
are important skills needed for learning concepts related to an arithmetic sequence.
As you go through this lesson, you are expected to:
MELC 1

the trash on our school. If the officers can collect 25 pet bottles on
the first day, 45 on the second day , 65 on the third day, and the
pattern continues, how many pet bottles can they collect in the

B. A farmer puts up a fence. The fence is made up of segments that

are attached to each other. The first segment has 6 boards, as
shown below, and each of the segments that attach to the next part
of the fence have 5 boards each.

Processing Question:
Process Questions:
1. What pattern do you see?
2. If the farmer uses 136 boards, how many segments of fence has he
put up?
3. Can you give an equation that will satisfy the sequence from the given
problem?

D What is it?
A sequence is a function whose domain is a finite set of positive
integers {1, 2, 3, …, n} or an infinite set {1, 2, 3, …}
Each element or object in the sequence is called term.
A sequence having last term is called finite sequence while a
sequence with no last term is called infinite sequence.

This finite sequence has 5 terms. We may use the notation a 1 , a 2, a 3, …, a n to

denote a(1), a(2), a(3), …a(n) respectively.

In Grade 10, we often encounter sequences that form a pattern such as that
found in the sequence below.

The above sequence is an infinite sequence where a n = 3n + 1.

See example Below:

Consider the rule form of the sequence

an = 7n – 4. If we are asked to get the first five terms of the
sequence, we have
a1= 7(1) – 4 = 3
a2= 7(2) – 4 = 10
a3= 7(3) – 4 = 17
a4= 7(4) – 4 = 24
LEARN MORE ABOUT SEQUENCEa = 7(5) – 4 = 31

Therefore, the sequence can also be denoted as 3, 10, 17, 24,

the activity?
2. Did you find it
easy to give the
first 5 terms of
each sequence?

Direction. Study the following patterns then supply the missing term to
complete the sequence.

1. Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sept, ___

2. 5, 8, 11, 14, ___, 20, ___...

3. 1/2, 1, 3/2, 2, 5/2, ___, 7/2, 4, ___,…

1. 3, -6, ___, -24, 48, ___ …

2. 1, 4, 9, 16, ___, 36, 49, 64, ___

Direction: Find the nth term of the given sequence.
1. 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13,..
2. 12, 19, 26, 33, 40,…
3. 9, 6, 3, 0, -3,…

Process Questions:

1. What pattern is shown in every item?

2. If the pattern continues in each of the item, what will
be the next item?

E What else I can do?

A sequence is an ordered list of items, usually numbers. Each item which
makes up a sequence is called a “term”.

E What I can do? do?

Real life connections.
Now that you’ve already learned and understand the lessons focusing on
generating the patterns, it’s time to work to demonstrate your learning. Are
you ready? Sure, you are!

Answer the following problems.

1. The table below shows the cost of renting the Montevista Reosrt at
Pansol Calamba City depending on the number of attendees.
Number of Rental Cost
Persons in Peso
20 6200
25 6500
30 6800
35 7100

Jose booked the hall for a birthday party for 40 persons. How much will he
pay?
2. Emilia helps her mother in selling “Kalamay Buna” (a delicacy from
Indang). From the money that her mother is giving her, she plans to save
Php25 every week for seven weeks. Form a sequence that will show the
amount of money she is saving from the first to seventh week.
3. The increase in the population of Laguna Province follows a pattern. That
is, 1.5% of its previous year’s population is added to the present to obtain
the next. If the current population of Laguna is 3,000,000, list the province’s
population for the next 2 years.
4. A rabbit population grew in the following pattern: 2, 4, 8, 16…if all the
rabbits live and the pattern continues, how many rabbits will be in the 20th
generation?
5. You and 3 friends are studying for Math and are sitting together at a
square table. A few minutes later 2 other friends arrive so you move another
table next to yours. Now 6 people can sit at the table. Another 2 friends also
join your group, so you take a third table and add it to the existing tables.
Now 8 people can sit together as shown below. Find an expression for the
number of people seated at n tables. Use the general formula to determine
how many people can sit around 12 tables. How many tables are needed to
seat 20 people?
