Power of Language Essay

POWER

Communication is key to talking to one another and one method that humans use is the

use of language. Furthermore, language is so intricate and developed so meticulously that it is

amazing how a jumble of sounds can come together that make sense. That is amazing because

we would not have come so far without being able to cooperate and understand one another. In

this essay, I will describe the importance of language for 21st century, key ideas as a future

teacher, ethical, and spiritual implications of language study.

First off, language is timeless. Since the beginning of time, animals have developed ways

to communicate with each other whether it be sounds or nonverbal movements. However,

humans are the only known creatures to have developed a language that is complex enough to go

beyond basic signals and to relay advanced emotional reactions. As technology is advancing in

this new age, the language we use is just as important as it was back in the day if not more due to

the lack of human contact. In addition, the new technology that humans have access to limits the

interactions that would have occurred if devices were not around. Due to advancements in long

distance communication, it has made us more distant than ever which is ironic. At the end of the

day, we still need to relay a message and language will be transmitted through a device.

Next off, ideas start wars. This is an understatement because ideas can make a big

difference. As a teacher, it is good to be innovative and the students will be able to pick up good

habits when teachers represent themselves in a good light. This is a crucial aspect of being a

teacher because you are always being looked upon even when you do not realize it. As for ideas,

I will come up with different games that involve language to make it seem enjoyable. Also, I will

have rewards such as candy, extra recess, and extra credit for creative ideas that students decide

to come up with the use of language. For example, they can create songs, poems, puzzles, or

dance moves that must deal with language. This is an important aspect that I will relay to my
POWER

students for them to be able to express themselves without harsh judgement in my classroom.

Therefore, it is important to lead a good example and that is an idea that will last a lifetime.

Moving forward, ethics and spiritual implications create warriors. Currently, it is easy to

lose sight of the good values that people have learned in the past. Also, we must remember to

pass on good values to the next generation, so they can avoid pitfalls that previous generations

may have faced. However, history tends to repeat itself if people are not taught the correct way.

Teachers come in more areas than just the classroom. For example, a teacher can be a parent,

mentor, neighbor, and even a friend that has some valuable knowledge to bestow. This is where

ethics come into play because the right person can make a dramatic impact in someone’s life and

change that person into a contributing member of society. In contrast, if the student is neglected

and treated as if they are dirt then it is more likely that that student will lash out against the world

because they feel that they have no value. In addition, spiritually what we believe in makes a big

difference because the Bible has values that are meant to help guide us in this world before we

pass. Therefore, those values play a huge part in how we behave whereas without those values

we have a greater chance of becoming lost. Even with the bible, people still manage to get lost

because it is just human nature to mess up. This is where language comes into play because we

need to be able to communicate our values in a way that they understand and not push the

students away. Furthermore, people fail to realize that failure to communicate is just as

dangerous as children being led down the wrong path because now you have played a part in not

actively helping someone who needed it most. As a result, a teacher is an important asset that

binds all the building blocks together to help a student succeed in and outside the classroom.

In conclusion, language binds us together and makes us stronger as well. Also, we must

not forget the values that have built a great society and to use the power of language to transfer

that information onto the next generation. Lastly, the teacher must be a good role model in and

out of the classroom or people will easily lose interest into what the teacher has to say.
