 Introduction
This document describes the installation steps with the screen shots for MS-SQL Server 2000 setup.

1.1 Purpose

Purpose of this document is to enable the basis administrators at Unisoft Infotech, to prepare them for
the installation of MS-SQL Server 2000.

1.2 Intended Audience

• SAP Basis Administrators

• Database Administrators
• XI Administrators
• Other Integration enthusiasts

 Installation Steps
Step / Description Screen Shot
Sequence
1. Browse though the files
in the database disc
labeled “D51030125”.
Double click on
setup.bat as shown in
the diagram to start
Installation of SQL
Server 2000.

2. Welcome screen is
displayed, Click on next
to proceed to the next
screen.

3. Enter the Name of the

computer and select
Local computer. Click
on Next.

4. Select the installation
option as, create a new
instance of SQL Server,
or install Client Tools.
Click Next to continue.

5. Enter the user

information and click
Next.

6. Accept the license

agreement and click Yes

7. Enter the CD key and
click next.

8. Define the installation

type, as server and client
tools and click next.

9. Uncheck the default

instance, Give the
instance name as “NWS “
and click next.

10. Choose Setup type as
Custom and Click on
Next.
Make sure you
installation drive should
have sufficient space, for
program files and data
files, if not choose the
appropriate disk drive.

11. Select SQL Collations;

choose Binary Order for
use with the 850
Multilingual Character
Set.
Later we shall apply the
OSS Note: 600027, to
correct the collation.

12. Enter the port number

1433; this is required as
this is a new instance.

13. Use of service accounts,
choose the option Use the
local system account in
the service settings, click
next.

14. Select the mixed

authentication mode and
provide the password for
“sa” login. Remember the
password, as this shall be
required later. Click next.

15. Confirm the final copy of

the setup files, click next

16. Provide the number of
systems that can access
the Database. Say 15.
Click Continue Setup.

17. Setup will start with

installing the Microsoft
data components.

18. Setup screen, progress

window.

19. Finish screen,

congratulations you have
installed SQL server
2000 server now on your
system, click finish.

1. Download the service
pack 4 from Microsoft
website and start the
installation
2. Welcome screen

3. Click Yes, to accept the

license agreement.

4. Select the NWS Instance.

5. Check all the options.
And click on continue
button.

6. Check the Automatically

sends fatal error reports
to Microsoft option, and
click OK button.

7. Setup now has all the

required information to
update the service patch
4. Click on Next.

8. Click on OK button to
backup the database.

Sequence
1. Copy the instcoll.exe
from the CD disc labeled
“D51030125” to C:\
2. Make sure the database is
up and started.
3. Execute the instcoll.exe.
Type ‘y’ when asked to
update the
SQL_LATIN1_GENERA
L_CP850_BIN2.

After the patch is applied

close the command
window by typing
Ctrl+C.
