pretender explain the concept to sugarcane, after that we will know the most important

countries that produce sugar , we want to know how much sugarcane produce this countries,

we will get information to countries in each continent and too we will know the sub products

of the sugarcane.

Before to answer the question, is important a short description about the sugar cane.

Sugar cane is an important commercial crop worldwide, and one of the main sources of sugar,

ethanol and jaggery (a semi-refined product of sugar used in the Indian subcontinent)

worldwide. Its by-products are also used as fodder to feed livestock in many countries.

Sugarcane is a tall perennial herb that reaches 3 to 4 meters in height, formed by attached and

fibrous stems. Although its cultivation began around 327 BC on the Indian subcontinents, it

gradually found its way to the rest of the world via trade routes throughout the Middle East.

Later, it came and flourished as an industry in the New World. In India, sugar cane is still

used in a large number of religious rituals. Today, sugarcane is grown in most countries with

warm climates.

According with the web site www.portalcania.com.ar “ Brazil leads the list of sugarcane

producers, with an annual production of 739,300 thousand metric tons. The south-central

region of Brazil is responsible for more than 90 percent of this national production. Sugar is

the main product from sugarcane grown in this country. However, the production of ethanol

from waste molasses is now more popular, since ethanol is used as fuel for power

automobiles, which Brazilians own in greater numbers. Recently, the country has questioned

the sugar subsidies granted by the Thai government to the sugarcane producers of the World

Trade Organization (WTO). These subsidies are likely to affect global sugar prices and the
market share of sugarcane in Brazil everywhere.”
