The Job Analysis Interview

1. Job Purpose
a. What is the essence of work in your position? What is the job’s overall purpose?

My work was in the production department of the organization in which I was


responsible for making the chemical formulation as per the demand of the
consumer.
Purpose of the job was to deliver the specified requirement to the customer
within the limited time frame and by maintaining the quality.

b. How do you see your work contributing to the overall mission/ purpose of the
organization, now and in the future?

My job was a core job and it depended on me on how my work was assigned to
me by the top management which directly decided the reputation of my
company in the sector.
In future I can opt for optimum utilization of resources by finding the
alternatives so that maximum revenue can be earned by keeping the quality
intact.

2. Job Duties
a. Describe your duties in terms of what they are, how you do them, how often you
perform them, and how long they each take?

My job was to report to the production manager of the plant and my main task
was to ascertain that the correct ratio of chemicals are mixed in the solution so
that it would take a specific amount of time to further deliver the solution tom
the production line. On an average it took around 8 hours for finalizing the
product.

b. Does the job have to be done in the way you were trained to do it, or do you see
ways of improving it?

The way I was trained by the organization for the specific number of months I
performed the same way then after when I got accustomed to the whole process
I tried to figure out what could be improved for that I researched and devised
new methods and replaced some chemicals and reduced the production time by
half an hour.

c. Are you performing duties not presently included in your job description?
Describe

I was a part of the auditing team of the inventory of chemicals so that we can
compare it with industry standards.
d. Are the instructions you receive from your supervisor clear and consistent with
your job description?

Yes, all the instructions were lucid and explicit, and sometimes whenever I faced
any doubt relating the working pattern I consulted with the supervisor and he
always helped me with my query.

While making the plastisol, you cannot use lead

Faux Leather is the final product which is formed in the form of Jumbo roll.

5. Training
a. Describe the orientation you received when you first started this job, and

It was for 3 months and during that time I was acquainted with all departments
and their work flow, Then I came into the core department and then I observed
how things worked and then I worked on a model

3-6 Months of technical training

equipment or to use tools?
their were guidelines which had to be followed

Yes, because there was a team under me which had to be managed by me.

Mental and Physical strength both are required as being a production engineer I
have to be there for me team and manage with them

7. Working Conditions
a. Describe your working conditions
When in plant the temp. is high and we had to use face mask and other skin
equipment’s for protection.

b. Describe the frequency and degree to which you encounter working conditions
such as these: contact with hazardous materials, strenuous physical labour,
cramped quarters, moving objects, vibration, inadequate ventilation.
Freq. was high and the contact with hazardous material fell under this category
as this was basically the part of the job I was performing.

8. Authority
a. What is the level of accountability , and to whom you are accountable?
I had to report to production head the work done by my team of 8 people.

b. What kind of independent action are you allowed to take?


I was accountable for actions of the people working under me.

9. Responsibility
a. Are you responsible for any confidential material? If so, describe how you handle
it
Yes, I was accountable for confidential material which cannot be shared as I am
suppose to share it.

how you handle it?
No
