Setup Guide
for EFI Fiery Colour Servers –
Production Colour (v151116)
Introduction
The Image Quality Check Tool, version 2 (iQ Check Tool v2) has been developed as (1) a training tool
to learn how the various image quality features on your RIP work and (2) as a troubleshooting tool to
validate that your Fuji Xerox digital colour printing system (RIP and printer) is printing correctly. For full
details on the iQ Check Tool v2 and how to use it, please visit the below URL then click on the “How to:
Access the USER GUIDE” link.
Is my product supported?
A full list of supported products and their minimum system requirements can be found in the download
page for your RIP (see instructions above). Your Fuji Xerox Production Colour Digital Printing System
should be running the minimum system requirements and should have all available patches installed.

2. Load the
stock
Aim: Load the “centreline” stock in any tray
The recommended “centreline” stock that is tested and approved for printing the iQ Check Tool v2 on is:
Xerox SRA3 120-170gsm Colotech+ Silk/Gloss Coated (Silk 120gsm Part number: 003R90357)
This stock has a CIE Whiteness of 130.
Using any other stock may produce unexpected printed results and may invalidate the test elements
contained in the iQ Check Tool.
4. Load the
ICC profile
Aim: Check, then import the provided ICC profile if not already loaded.
The colour management job properties of the iQ Check Tool v2 PRINT file require that the ISO Coated
v2 (ECI) ICC profile (correctly named) to be installed BEFORE the PDF is imported so that the RGB and
CMYK strips of the kids image will match correctly.
This profile has been provided as part of the iQ Check Tool download bundle (filename: ISO Coated v2
(ECI).icc). The profile’s name should exactly match “ISO Coated v2 (ECI)” when loaded on your RIP.
To load the profile (if it is not already there), please open Command Workstation (CWS) v5.x and go to –
Device Center > Resources > Profiles and simply drag the profile into the “CMYK Source Profiles” list.
5. Import the
iQ Check Tool Archive
Aim: Import the Archive file into the Fiery server (File > Import Archived Job...)
For Fiery systems, the iQ Check Tool v2 PDF is provided within a Fiery Archive job folder which has been
pre-configured with all the required job settings for you to simply import then print. The archive name is:
iQ Check Tool v2-PRINT-ProdCol-EN
Caution: Choose “Import Archived Job...” from the CWS File menu then “Add...” the iQ_Check_Tool_v2
folder (from Desktop) to the Directories panel. The iQ Check Tool v2-PRINT-ProdCol-EN archive will then
appear in the lower panel for selection.
Note: You may need to manually change stock settings (default weight is set to 120gsm) or any desired
finishing options (default is to top tray) before printing (see Troubleshooting section if problems arise).
7. Observe
the Output
Aim: Check the printed pages for image quality issues.
Observing the 5th printed copy, are there any visible image quality problems? Did the problem you were
having with your own files go away? You can also review the other prints to check for consistency.
For further assistance please check the suggestions outlined on the back of each iQ Check Tool v2 page
or for more advanced-level information, including steps on how to potentially resolve your issue, please
consult the online iQ Check Tool v2 User Guide (refer to pg2).
Advanced Option
Printing with
Pure Colours
Aim: Change the colour management for the TECHNICALS page only.
When using the default iQ Check Tool v2 job Properties, the C-M-Y-K swatches and gradients located on
the TECHNICALS page will not print as solid, pure C-M-Y-K, but will simulate ISO Coated v2 (ECI). See the
online User Guide article for these patches for more information. In order for the C-M-Y-K colours to print
as they are designed in the file (as solid/pure) you can do the following before printing it:
a. In the Job Properties window click Colour >Basic or Advanced and set:
• CMYK/Grayscale Source to “Bypass Conversion”
• Separate RGB/LAB to CMYK Source = OFF.
b. Close the Color Management window
c. Print page 3-4 only (Pg1-2 is not required for this test).
Note: the RGB and CMYK strips in the image of the children will no longer match each other.
