CITTADINES’ ONLINE CLASS CODE of CONDUCT

Although our classroom environment is virtual (online), the standards of behavior
are as important as they are in brick and mortar schools. In other words, our virtual
classrooms are real classrooms with real teachers; therefore, appropriate Cittadine
behavior is expected. To ensure that all Cittadines understand how to behave in an
online environment, we have developed a code of conduct that all Cittadines are
required to follow. This code of conduct addresses Cittadine interaction with Cittadini
faculty, staff, and other Cittadines, as well as their individual actions. The following
rules apply to the Virtual School and Classroom and live session environments.

Interactions with Faculty and Staff

1. Cittadines should address all faculty and staff members as adults with the courtesy
expected for education professionals. They are to use both the appropriate title
(Sister, Madame, Miss, and Mister/Sir) and the name. No other form of address is
acceptable.
2. Cittadines should phrase communications with faculty and staff in a polite and
courteous manner appropriate for speaking to adults. The tone of chats, calls.
emails and phone conversations must be respectful.
3. Since our online environment is a learning environment, Cittadines should not use
excessive “slang” or language that they might use in other environments.
Cittadines must communicate with teachers in complete sentences.
4. Cittadines are not to use obscene, profane, threatening, or disrespectful language or
images in any communications with faculty and staff. These actions are prohibited
as indicated in our Cittadines’ Handbook.
5. Cittadines must use a profile picture and video feed background that is appropriate
for an educational environment. The Cittadini faculty & administration reserve the
right to determine if a profile picture or video feed background is inappropriate.
Cittadines using an inappropriate profile picture or video feed background will be
required to update their settings. Teams profile pictures should be a head-shot of
the Cittadine only and may not be offensive or inappropriate in any manner.
6. Cittadines must use the OFFICIAL email address within the educational
environment.

Interactions with Other Cittadines

1. ALL COMMUNICATIONS with other Cittadines enrolled in Cittadini Teams must be
of a subject-related nature. Anything not related to any subject is prohibited from
being discussed in the VIRTUAL SCHOOL and VIRTUAL CLASSROOM. Use the
CHAT and CALL feature of the Microsoft Teams for your PRIVATE MESSAGING
(Chat or Call) with friends.
2. All communications with other Cittadines in any forum, subject related email,
discussion post, chat, call, etc., must be polite, courteous and respectful.
3. The integrity and authenticity of Cittadine work is something that we take seriously
and check using a variety of technologies. Copying the work of others, allowing
others to knowingly copy a Cittadine’s work, and/or misusing content from the
Internet could affect your Conduct Grade.
4. Do not collaborate with other Cittadines’ (work with) unless directed to do so by your
teacher. Working together is useful in the traditional classroom, but it is not
permitted in our online environment without specific teacher instructions to do so.
In addition, parents may not login to a Cittadine’s account and complete
coursework on behalf of the child.
5. Cittadines are not to use obscene, profane, threatening, or disrespectful language or
images in any communications with other Cittadines. These actions are prohibited
and are to be dealt with.

Appropriate Use of the Internet (c/o Miss Bautista and Mrs Nuevo)
1. Typing in all caps is inappropriate. Others may perceive as shouting.
2. Don’t abuse the chatbox. Treat it as a learning tool for on-topic discussions.
3. Respect to be respected. Conduct yourself in an appropriate manner, that is with
courtesy, politeness so that others will do the same thing to you.
