1) GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 

 
The Reflective Narrative with the theme: My Life amidst the COVID-19 ECQ: In the
Contexts of STS and Laudato Si’, will involve the creation of a Reflective Narrative
covering all of the given topics, namely:
 
         Topic 1. Biodiversity Loss & Conservation and its relation to emerging viral contagion,
e.g., COVID-19 and Ebola   
         Topic  2. Climate change
          Topic 3. Food Safety & Security during lockdowns (e.g., ECQ)  
          Topic 4. Water Resources Management  
          Topic 5: Human Health focusing on COVID - 19.     
 
 
The Reflective Narrative has the following components:
 
a) Cover / Title : per topic, with personalized title for the said topic, e.g., Topic 5: Human Health
focusing on COVID – 19 could perhaps be entitled COVID-19: Dapat ka bang katakutan?;
must contain your complete name & section.
b) Introduction: per topic, must include the setting, the characters, and prepare the audience for
the action to come, i.e., the What and the Why.
c) Body of the reflective narrative: per topic, the body of the reflective narrative may include, but
not limited to the following:
(1) experiences and observations, and explanations based on STS and Laudato Si’ concepts;
(2) values and skills learned (e.g., discriminating between factual vs fake news);
(3) knowledge gained (e.g., the science behind COVID-19, RT-PCR, Rapid Tests); and
(4) impact on self, family & local as well as global societies.
*d) Conclusion (Synthesis): This part is only to be submitted with the last topic for those
assigned to submit the narrative in parts); it contains the realizations, plans and actions to be
taken based on knowledge, values and skills gained from the experiences in order to take
responsibility for the present and future world.
*e) Closing Discussion: Acknowledgments, etc
 
NOTE: * There should only be ONE conclusion and closing discussion for the whole narrative.
This part should be found at the last part of the Human Health focusing on COVID - 19
Narrative. Do not forget to include the pictures and other pertinent documents to support or
better describe your claims in all parts of the narrative.
 
 
2) PRESENTATION OF THE REFLECTIVE NARRATIVE:
     
a) Prior to creating your Reflective Narrative, please read the word files that will be given to you
by your respective lecturer on the 5 topics listed above.
b) Your reflective narrative will use the Wordfile: Times New Roman, font size 12 and 1 ½
spacing. Prior to submission, please convert to PDF format.
c) No minimum number of pages for your narrative.
d) For your presentation flow, make sure that you include the following components (description
above):
 
            (1) Introduction
            (2) Body of the reflective narrative
            (3) Conclusion – only to be submitted with the last part of the narrative as this will serve
to synthesize all the 5 topics.
            (4) Pictures and pertinent document 
e) A copy of the assessment rubric will also be shared with you by your lecturer in order for you
to be guided as to how your reflective creation is going to be appreciated and graded.     
f) Submission of the narrative, whether in individual parts (i.e., Part 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5), or two-part
submission, or as a whole (i.e., parts 1 to 5), etc. will depend on your respective lecturer. 
 
NOTE: The mode of submission for sections in the College of Engineering: 1-2, 1-6, 1-7, 1-8, 1-
9, 1-12, 1-24 would be as a whole and a onetime submission.
 
g) Online submission may be coursed through any of the following sites as agreed upon with
majority, if not all, the students: To Faculty Lecturers: please observe data privacy policies
            (1) UST Cloud Campus
            (2) Class team drive (created by your lecturer for the purpose)
            (3) Other sites (as agreed upon by the student and lecturer)
  
h) And finally, it is very IMPORTANT to remember that your Reflective Narrative is equivalent
to 30% of your subject grade and will take the place of your final examination in your STS
course.
