Overview

Business Intelligence can provide the right information to everyone in an enterprise - including
in-depth analysis and reporting capabilities that are required to understand business, make the
right decisions, gain the competitive edge, increase profitability and optimize business
performance.

The simplification and standardization of business intelligence tools, reports, dashboards and
data repositories across an organization can dramatically reduce operating costs and create value.

BI/DW assists clients to access, analyze, share and leverage disparate business-critical
information across their enterprise and translate their valuable data into organized and managed
knowledge thus empowering them to make intelligent, timely and actionable decisions.

We want an organization to understand the value that Business Intelligence provides in terms of
providing knowledge from data to make intelligent, timely and actionable decisions by following
the approach below:

Training in Business Intelligence

• Introduction to Business Intelligence – what, where how & why?

• Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing Life Cycle

• Techniques to make the right decisions.

• BI methodology which encompasses best practices.

• Provide Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing solutions.

• Help translate data into knowledge.

• Build ability to use BI as a tool to do in-depth analysis.

Understanding your needs
A company needs to know its pain points and address them quickly during the
implementation. Organizations will want to see whether there's information they can
deliver to decision-makers that can help them meet company goals or align corporate
priorities with business metrics.

Formation of Steering Committee

Building the BI business case begins with a number of questions, including: Where do
you start?

Who needs to be involved? Who drives the BI projects? A steering committee helps
direct the vendor selection process and initial project implementation, and once they're up
and running, a cross-functional continuous improvement team will ensure that the
organization continues delivering new business value.

Define Roadmap
Define a roadmap to achieve the goals as mandated by the organization and the steering

Committee..

Roadmap defines project

A BI project is the amalgamation of the process followed above as part of the workshop
to be undertaken to achieve the requirements and accomplish the pain points addressed
by the organization.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing is one of the industries facing global competition like never before.
Manufacturing industry needs to not only keep tight vigilance on competitors, but also find out
ways to optimize resources to gain maximum productivity out of minimum investment.

BI in Manufacturing
Managers are required to be equipped with up-to-date and accurate information to take mission
critical decisions based on factual data rather than just assumptions. Analysis of cost factors in
acquisition of raw material and sold goods is important. Managers need to have an insight into
the demand and supply trends to optimize inventory investment and avoid short supplies. This
demands for consolidation of information from supply chain system, enterprise resource
planning, sales and marketing and customer relationship management systems for overall
effective business process which can be met by using Business Intelligence to bring about the
following:

Inventory Optimization - Inventory optimization analysis enables to monitor warehouse

inventory tracking to reduce overcapacity. Helps you to monitor inventory-carrying cost
for obsolete and slow moving inventory.

Supply Chain Management - Supply chain management analysis evaluates to supply

chain activities; maximize vendor performance without compromising on quality. Helps
you in notification of bottleneck situations and possible shortcoming.

Procurement and Spend Analysis - Spend analysis gathers and analyzes statistical
information on what an organization buys, who it buys from and the values and volumes
of its transactions. The analysis can then be used to support recommendations for change,
provide the basis of a business case and generate opportunities for savings.

Supplier Performance - Fact-based quality data can be used to drive problem resolution,
faster change turnarounds, supplier scorecards, supplier charge back systems, and
supplier audits.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - support and facilitate attaining vital goals of an
organization. They are crucial for understanding and improving manufacturing
performance.

Information Technology
The competitive forces prevailing in the world of commerce today require firms to operate as
efficiently and productively as possible in order to maintain and enhance market share,
profitability and shareholder value. An essential element to achieving success involves the
continuous enhancement of knowledge and understanding of the business environment by
employees at all levels. This can be accomplished by implementing processes which augment the
accessibility and communication of value added information throughout the organization. As a
result there has been an increased demand for cutting-edge information technology by businesses
in all industries. So, to fulfill our present and future requirements and ambitions in all respect of
life, it is essential to enhance our expertise to link the power of today's information technology
with the tools of economic theory and business strategy.

BI in Information Technology
Information Technology deals with all types of data in which information can be extracted from.
It may seem simple but the entire process is extremely complex. Business intelligence - services
and software is designed to help companies analyze customer, market and operational data and
transform it into information to enhance sales and performance. Without the sophisticated
applications in the Business Intelligence software this information would remain unseen.

IT and BI work together to perform the data related tasks that organization’s need to have done.
The data used in all of the analysis applications is gathered through the process of Information
Technology. Business Intelligence applications deal with gathering, storing, sorting, and
analyzing data for an organization. Business Intelligence identifies the information extracted
from the data and distributes it into the allocated areas in which the information belongs. This
process ensures that all of the information is in its right place when managers, executives, or
other Business Intelligence software users access the applications they need.

Companies have access to the information, the ability to combine, aggregate and integrate the
information, and deliver self-service access to BI for non-technical end-users when, where, and
how they need it.
