IIHM, DELHI.
REFLECTIVE LOG:
HRM is one of the most interesting subjects, I’ve come across so far. It makes us think about what exactly can make
or break the reputation of an organization. And, so my teammates:
(Prateek dhingra – 21421212
Vivek Jangra – 21421242
Aniruddha Behal – 21421166)
and I started our research on why HR has become such a necessity for most organizations today. Hence, our
assessment started by first understanding what HRM actually is and how it came into being. My abled teammate
gave a great start to the presentation by explaining how Human resource department deals with mainly managing the
most vital resource of any organization i.e., Human capital, and their related aspects like compensation and benefits,
recruitment and hiring of employees, performance management, training and organizational development and
culture, employee motivation, employee safety, welfare and health measures.
After understanding what HR is, I further started working on understanding the different types o HR – SOFT AND
HARD HR and then explaining the different delivery models of HR. I did a brief analysation on the various models
of HR, namely which were the Harvard model, The Ulrich model, the warwick model, the 5P’s model and the
ASTD model and how they comprise features of combination of both soft and hard HR. I further progressed by
explaining how the interaction between the organization and the HR conspires and how the internal structure of the
HR is based on their major functions. After crossing this aspect, we had to work on understanding the key concepts
of recruitment and selection and Vivek was able to do a marvellous job on that. Anirudhha took the lead after that,
explaining that every organization must have different ways of recruitment and selection and based on their size,
situational factors, competition, market demand, etc. Also sometimes these recruitment and selection processes may
have a number of differences and so Vivek went on to explain the equality and diversity in the recruitment and
selection processes and the ethics that are to be considered for the same. Ending on a good note, through our
research we were able to understand the concept well and are grateful for the opportunity we received to do the
research on this subject.
