The document discusses redesigning the VJTI website to address drawbacks of the current website. The current website is cluttered, difficult to navigate, and takes a long time to find information. The redesigned website features include changing the background to a college photo, making the dashboard more user-friendly, easy navigation with most links on the home page, listing departments in a drop-down, including quick links on the dashboard, grouping miscellaneous links, and regularly updating events. Icons are also proposed to identify menu items and serve as highlights without using just text.

1. The VJTI website active now is very cluttered in appearance. 2. It is difficult for the user to navigate it. 3. The user has to spend a lot of time to get the information he needs because of the confusing site layout. 4. Many users do not like the color scheme used and also feel that the font size is too large. 5. The news and notifications section is too clustered, so there is a chance that the user may miss an important announcement.
Features of redesigned website:
1. The background is changed to a picture of the college. a. This solves the problem of users who claimed that the website background (white) was too bright. b. It ties together the theme of the website. 2. The dashboard is made more user friendly. 3. The website navigation is made easy with the most accessed links given on the home page itself. 4. The departments are listed under the department drop down. a. This saves the user’s time and efforts to search department specific links. 5. All the important quick links are made available on the dashboard itself. a. This will reduce the user’s efforts and time to get to the desired part of the website. 6. The miscellaneous links are clubbed together in the Others drop down menu. 7. The events are updated regularly with the correct and verified dates, timings and venues. 8. Detailed information about various scholarships is easily available. The use of icons beside menu items is a fantastic alternative that favors a quick visual option identification; and even the use of icons without text to accompany is viable. Icons being part of the overall design can also serve as highlighters, instead of just using text. An important current technique is the use of web font icons. It allows the total integration of the menu in a responsive web design thanks to the scalability and customization of vector icons.
