Vamos a trabajar juntos la actividad # 1. Let´s go to work together! Para esta
actividad es muy importante que LEAS CON MUCHA ATENCIÓN la
siguiente tabla sobre el pasado simple (simple past) y el pasado continuo (past
continuous) …

SIMPLE PAST PAST CONTINUOUS

Singular (I-she- he- it)

She prepared a sandwich yesterday. (+) She was preparing a sandwich (+)

She did not prepare a sandwich yesterday. (-) She was not preparing a sandwich (-)

Did she prepare a sandwich yesterday? Was she preparing a sandwich?

Plural (you-we-they)
They prepared a sandwich yesterday. (+) They were preparing a sandwich (+)
They did not prepare a sandwich yesterday.

Activity #1
1. Para hacer preguntas en pasado simple necesitas de un auxiliar DID y
para el pasado continuo necesitas dos auxiliares WAS y WERE.

2. El pasado simple se refiere a acciones específicas que comienzan y


terminan mientras que el pasado continuo no.
3. En el pasado continuo al verbo se le agrega ING y al pasado simple al
verbo se le agrega ED o IED dependiendo del verbo.

4. En pasado simple a los verbos irregulares utilizan su forma auxiliar “to


be” mientras el pasado continuo se utiliza el verbo auxiliar “to be” y el
verbo+ing.

5. En la forma negativa el pasado continuo utiliza el auxiliar para negar was


not y were not (wans´t, weren´t). En pasado simple se utiliza el auxiliar
did para negar, did not (didn’t).

6. En general añadimos “ed” a todos los verbos regulares ejemplo wathch=


watched mientras que en el continuo el auxiliar ING está en todas sus
formas.
Activity # 2:

1. I didn´t spend my holidays in Wales last year (pasado simple).


2. My friends were not phoning to tell me how awful the weather was at
the seaside (pasado continuo).
3. Every morning I didn’t get up early (pasado simple).
4. I didn’t travel around by bike (pasado simple).
5. I wasn’t talking to a farmer in a village (pasado continuo).
6. My mobile didn’t ring (pasado simple).
7. My friends weren’t phoning to tell me how awful (pasado continuo).
8. the weather wasn’t at the seaside (pasado simple).

1. Was Michael listening to music? (Pasado continuo)
2. Was he watching his favorite television program? (Pasado continuo)
3. Did we listen music until ten o’clock last night? (pasado simple).
4. What did you prepare for dinner? (pasado simple).
5. Did Mike drink all the juice? (pasado simple).
6. Were they eating in the restaurant on the corner? (Pasado continuo)

Activity # 4:
I switched off (switch off) the computer because it was making (make) a strange
noise.
My dad was listening (listen) to classical music when I arrived (arrive) home
from school.
We were playing (play) video games when my mum said (say) ‘Turn the volume
down!’
My cousin met (meet) his wife, Bianca, while he was living (live) in Italy.
My little sister was drawing (draw) a picture while I was studying (study) for
my French exam.
While they were trying (try) to fix the computer, all the lights went out (go out).
When we were left (leave) school yesterday, it was pouring (pour) with rain.
When you saw (see) Paul, was he wearing (wear) a black jacket?
I was trying (try) to log on when the Wi-Fi stopped (stop) working.
While Dad was printing (print) an article, the printer ran out (run out) of paper.
