NARRATIVE REPORT ON WINS

H a n d w a s h i n g i s a w a y t o s u p p o r t a g l o b a l a n d l o c a l c u l t u r e o f handwashing

with soap, shine a spotlight on the state of handwashing in each country and raise awareness

about the benefits of handwashing with soap.

Most germs that cause serious infections in healthcare are spread by people’s actions.

Hand hygiene is a great way to prevent infections. However, studies show that on average,

healthcare providers clean their hands less than half of the times they should. This

contributes to the spread of healthcare-associated infections that affect 1 in 25 hospital

patients on any given day. Every patient is at risk of getting an infection while they are being

treated for something else. Even healthcare providers are at risk of diseases if they neglect to

wash their hands. For this reason, DANHS together with DepEd through Water, Sanitation

and Hygiene in School Program strongly implemented the hand washing and practical ways to

achieve the total cleanliness in the school campus.
