Task One

Produce an E.R diagram from the following Description and rules: -

Your Manager has asked you to create an E.R diagram of a hotel chain called Bed and Breakfast
(B&B). B&B consists of many hotel branches around the country. Each hotel has a variety of rooms
and each room has a different price depending of the type of room it is. B&B would like to keep
information on their guests so that they can send them letters and email about special offers.

Other business rules: -


• For financial reasons, booking information must be kept. This information consists of the
date from which the guest booked the room to the date they left.
• They would like to be able to work out how many days the guests stayed.

Task Two

Create an ERD (entity relationship diagram) from the following information.

An order (from a customer) is made up of many order lines. Each line is used to order something
different.

Task Five

Tiny College
1. Tiny College is divided into several schools: a school of business, a school of arts and
sciences, a school of education, and a school of applied sciences. Each school is
administered by a dean who is a teacher.

2. Each school is composed of several departments. For example, the school of business
has an accounting department, a management/marketing department, an
economics/finance department, and a computer information systems department.

3. Each department may offer courses. For example, the management/marketing


department offers courses such as Introduction to Management, Principles of Marketing,
and Production Management.

4. CLASS is a section of a COURSE and a department may offer several sections.

5. Each department may have many teachers assigned to it.

6. Each teacher may teach up to four classes; each class is a section of a course.

7. A student may enroll in several classes but may only take each class only once during
any given enrollment period.

8. Each department has several students whose major is offered by the department.

9. Each student has an advisor in his or her department; each advisor counsels several
students. An advisor is also a teacher.

10. Each staff member and student has a login for the school’s intranet system. They are
both users of the system however staff and students have different information in the
system.
