The Thorns of the Briar Queen will be the Enemies in this solo challenge, with the player using
Stormsire’s Cursebreakers
Assign each board side an attack die symbol to place them and get a battlefield. Roll 1 attack
die to set the first board, then reassign symbols for the 2 sides of the remaining board.
Shuffle the objective counters face down and place the top one on the first board.
If the Objective counter is even, it will be Stormsire's Cursebreaker’s Board.
If the Objective counter is odd, it will be the Thorns of the Briarqueen's Board.
Thorns of the Briarqueen (Enemies).
Place the 7 cards of the Thorns randomly from left to right next to the board,
from 1 to 7.
Take and shuffle the Objective counters from 1 to 7 and place them face down on the
starting hexes. Flip the Objective Pieces and place the Fighters as in the order of the
cards, from 1 to 7 after removing the Objective pieces.
If Objective pieces cannot be placed by the rules above, they will be placed on the edge
hexes in accordance with the 2 player rules.
Dealing cards
Stormsire’s Cursebreakers.
Take 5 Power cards and 3 Objective cards.
Unlike the rule, you have no Do Over.
HOW TO PLAY
Action Phase
The Action phase takes place as in the 2 player game except for the Thorns:
Thorns are the first to play. They activate their fighters from left to right, from 1 to 7. Place
and move a movement token on the cards for remind you of the next Fighter that will be
activated. They perform their actions of Movement and Attack, then draw a Powers card and
resolve its effect.
If the Power card represents a Dagger or Spell icon, it is performed and removed
from play. If it could not be performed, it is returned to the deck (the Thorns do
not spend Glory Point counters).
If the Power card represents a gear icon, it is placed on the next fighter who can
play it (or not) the next turn.
When a Thorn is attacked by a Cursebreaker; After the Combat resolution, she immediately
draws a Power card to effect (see above).
Movement and occupation of the objective markers if they have not yet been won
in end phase (trying to take full advantage of their movement potential),
Attack action if next to a Cursebreaker Fighter.
Movement and charge to a cursebreaker (nearest / leader / weakest),
Support,
Occupation of the enemy board.
During their movements, the Thorns try to move on the hexes where there are Glory point
counters to collect them as they pass (Cursebreakers do not recover Glory Points but can
occupy the hexes).
The Thorns do not drive back when attacking unless they can do so to a lethal hex.
The Thorns inspire as per the 2 player rules, however, when any cursebreaker becomes
inspired, all Thorns become inspired.
End phase
The end phase is the same as the 2 player rules, except for the Thorns:
The Objective cards of the Thorns are revealed. The Thorns win Glory points if any of their
objectives are achieved. If objectives are not achieved, these cards are shuffled back into the
deck and 3 more dealt out face down.
